_______________________________________________________________________________________

These instructions apply to the use of HMI Advanced V07.01 on PC / PG with SINUMERIK 810D / 840D /
840D sl

Installation on PC / PG:
The installation of this software component requires a PC running Windows-XP SP1 or SP2 (not Windows
95/98/ME/2000/NT), a CD-ROM drive, a network card, 512MB RAM min. and 1GB of free hard disk capacity.

HMI Advanced includes all texts in the 5 European standard languages as well as in Chinese Simplified. The
help feature for setting data and machine data is generally offered in German and English only.

The HMI Advanced software includes installable versions of the V06.05.15 standard cycles (technology cycles)
and V06.03.26 measuring cycles. They are available as archives in the Archives / Cycle Archives directory,
which also includes the upgrading instructions for the standard and measuring cycles in the SIEMENSD.ARC
(German) or SIEMENSE.ARC (English) files (readable under Services using the editor).

The HMI Advanced software includes Acrobat Reader V4, which is used for the help feature. Please note that
the help feature of the HMI Advanced becomes inoperative if an Acrobat Reader version 5 or higher is installed.

The HMI Advanced software has only been released for screen resolutions of 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768. "Small
font sizes" must be specified for the desktop on a PC/PG. As a rule, font size 8 is used.

The HMI Advanced software is entered in the Windows Registry upon installation and can be uninstalled again
via Control Panel / Software. Only 1 HMI Advanced or 1 Start-Up Tool may be installed on a WinXP system at
any time.
HMI Advanced can only be executed with local administrator privileges.

The HMI Advanced software has a default screen resolution of 640x480 and can be switched over to full-screen
mode for the current screen resolution (1024 x 768 max.). To do this, the "RESOLUTION=1" entry must be set in
the [Control] section of the ...\user\mmc.ini file.

Please read the documentation “Start-Up functions for HMI Advanced (IM4)” on the supplied CD.

General notes on the installation of the HMI Advanced software:

Any existing HMI software 6.x should be uninstalled first since otherwise the HMI Advanced software 7.1 will be
automatically configured for operation with 840D PowerLine. The data management and all files in the ...\user,
...\add_on, ...\oem directories can be retained. In ...\user\mmc.ini, any existing [NCU840D] section must be
completely deleted or suppressed by commenting.

Even any existing HMI Advanced 7.1 preliminary software version (internal version < 07.10.17) should be
uninstalled first because old software components may otherwise be retained.

HMI Advanced also needs components of the STEP7 drivers to run on a SINUMERIK 840D sl. For this reason,
when the software is installed on PCs without STEP7, the option “with STEP7 drivers” must be selected.

Installation of the HMI Advanced software:

To start the installation, the SETUP.EXE must be called up in the HMI Advanced software directory of the
supplied CD-ROM. The InstallShield wizard then guides you through the installation.
The target directory can be freely selected.

HMI-Advanced für PC / PG V07.01 - für SolutionLine und PowerLine

Three installation variants are available:

• Online with interfacing to an NCU
The PC must be equipped with at least one network card.
In this mode, an 840D sl control unit can be operated like a PCU 50.
• Locally without interfacing to an NCU
• Locally without interfacing to an NCU with a simulated NCK

The “Online” variant must be selected. Both Local modes have not been released for use.

There will be a request to specify the installation variant: either SolutionLine, i.e. operation on NCU7x0, or
PowerLine, i.e. operation on an 810D or 840D.

The question about the installation of the STEP7 drivers may only be answered with “no” if STEP7 has already
been installed.

Connection of the PC / PG to an NCU 7x0:

The communication between HMI Advanced and the NCU is made via a network connection based on TCP/IP
(see IM5 documentation on supplied CD for details).
The most simple case is a direct connection between a network card of the PC / PG and the NCU 7x0, X120 by
means of a crossed network cable. The network card of the PC / PG will be preset to the fixed IP address
192.168.214.250 with SubnetMask 255.255.255.0.
In this configuration, the HMI Advanced software can communicate with the NCU since the NCU IP address is
preset in the HMI Advanced software on X120 to 192.168.214.1.

Alternatively, the network connection to the NCU can also be established over a corporate network. In this case,
the PC will get its IP address as usual from the DHCP of the corporate network. The NCU is connected to the
corporate network via X130 and will also be assigned its IP address from the DHCP of the corporate network.
This IP address can either be obtained from the network administrator or read from the 7-segment display during
the start-up of the NCU with NC switch position 8. The IP address of the NCU must be communicated to the HMI
Advanced software under Start-Up / HMI / NCU connection.

If a connection still cannot be established, please check the following:

• Can the NCU be “pinged” from the PC / PG? (DOS shell, ping 192.168.214.1 )
• Line 199 “Startup1 = name := cp_840di, Timeout := 0” in ..\mmc2\regie.ini must not be suppressed by
commenting.
• ..\mmc2\mmc.ini or ..\user\mmc.ini must include an [NCU840D] section of the following form that must
not be suppressed by commenting:
[NCU840D]
ADDRESS0=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/NC,SAP=040d,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT
ADDRESS1=192.168.214.1,LINE=10,NAME=/PLC,SAP=0201,PROFILE=CLT1__CP_L4_INT

must match the configuration of the PLC and the SINAMICS drives!
HMI Advanced is not yet able to determine these parameters automatically.

Connection of the PC / PG to an 810D / 840D:

The communication between HMI Advanced and the 810D / 840D is made over an MPI connection from the
MPI/DP port of the PC / PG to the MPI / BTSS port of the 810D / 840D. On the HMI side, BTSS is preset to
1.5 Mbps and NC/PLC address 13. The MPI interface of the PC / PG (Control Panel / Set PG/PC Interface) must
be set to “S7ONLINE (STEP7) Æ CPxxxx (MPI)”.

Switch-over between SolutionLine and PowerLine:

It is possible for service purposes to switch over the HMI Advanced software for operation on SolutionLine or
PowerLine. This requires that the software is installed to run on SolutionLine.
The Switch program can be called under Start / Programs / SINUMERIK 840D and used to make the switch-
over.
Note:
The switch-over must occur before the HMI Advanced software is started.
The Switch program only changes the [NCU840D] section in ...\user\mmc.ini. The regie.ini is not changed
because a running cp_840di does not affect the operation on PowerLine.
If STEP7 is used in parallel, the S7 interface must be manually toggled between TCP/IP and MPI.

New features compared to HMI Advanced 6.4
====================================================================

System:
• Runs on NCU 7x0 with SINAMICS drives

Program area:
• Contour editor: Chamfer or radius at beginning or end
• Contour editor: Contours with symmetrizing
• Extensions in MCSP

Start-up area:
• Extensions for the start-up of SINAMICS drives
• License handling
The use of the system software and the enabled options now requires a license.
As long as an adequate licensing is not present, a cyclic NC alarm 8081 will be generated.
Licensing is made via a License Key, which can be generated via the A&D Web License Manager
at www.siemens.com/automation/license.
This requires the license number and bill of delivery number of the respective option.

====================================================================
Compatibility
====================================================================
• The HMI Advanced software version 07.01 can be combined with the NCU 710 / NCU 720 software version

HMI-Advanced für PC / PG V07.01 - für SolutionLine und PowerLine

• The HMI Advanced software version 07.01 does no longer support V24 communications.

====================================================================
Known restrictions
====================================================================

System:
• The Profibus addressing of the SINAMICS drive must be entered manually in the mmc.ini if it differs from the
default.
Note: A non-default Profibus addressing will also be forwarded to the so-called CP in the NCU 7x0 via
STEP7. However, it is currently not possible to save this setting with the NC / PLC series start-up archive so
that it must be restored with STEP7 if required.
• The M:N functionality is not available.
• The “Manage network drives” and “Multi-channel sequencer programming” options cannot be enabled via
license management but only via the display flag byte MD SW_OPTIONS.
• When the HMI Advanced software is started in the “separate desktop”, the header may not appear in some
cases. In this case, run the HMI Advanced software in the first desktop.

Diagnostics area:
• PLC status: The input of values for flag bytes is only possible in H (Hex) format.
• A cross-system version indication is not yet available.

Start-up area:
• “NC” softkey in basic start-up display: The display under “NC memory” is partly incorrect.
• No drive parameters can be added in user views.
The “Data” selection box in the “File functions” area is not available when file functions from the Control
Unit/Power supply and Drive areas are selected.
• During the start-up of the drives, there are no messages that indicate that the drive is currently “processing"
or “ready” again. This is e.g. the case after topology adjustment and setting of P9=0, after initiation of the
network and DC link adaptation in the power supply via P840.
• Optimization / measurement of speed controller / mechanical frequency response is not possible.
• During the measurement of linear drives, the amplitude and the offset are valued too high in the speed
controller with a factor of 1000! Recommendation: Start with low values such as 0.01!
• Changing the “Axis MD32100” travel direction (not control direction) does not change the travel direction or
offset amplitude direction in the speed controller measurement.
• Current controller measurement is not possible for drives with a brake if this is managed via Sinamics.
• The measurement of the current, speed and position controllers of gantry and master/slave systems has not
yet been tested!

Simulation:
• No tool carriers must be activated in conjunction with the NCU software version 1.3 or 840D NC software
version 7.2.
