ontinuing in line with the

previous articles I am going to keep
developing tactical abilities. In
this article I am going to delve
into charging which is a tactical
defensive action.

I am going to theoretically
contextualize this action
and will propose games
by means of an athletic
introduction.

I propose that the

introduction of defensive
tactial action in futsal should
always be done in the most
recreational way possible,
always encouraging the players’
learning and that they have fun
and enjoy the training sessions.

A charge is the tactical defensive action
that a player uses against an opponent, DEVELOPMENT: Two teams are formed and they carry out a relay race. Players on each team pair off.
when the opponent has possession of the On the trainer’s command, one pair from each team takes off, shoulder to shoulder, running towards the
ball or is trying to get possession of the half-way line where they will turn around a cone and come back, as fast as possible, to so that the next

but in keeping with regulation. VARIATIONS: Increase the relay race space, one of the players uses a ball…

A charge can be performed by a player

who has possesion of the ball with the
intention of protecting the ball.

This tactical defensive concept is very

important to work on during the introductory
futsal training, for it will allow futsal players
to be more effective on defence.

The following is my proposal for working on charges in a recreational way:

NAME: “Tag with charges”

GROUPING: Large group.

MATERIALS: None.

OBJECTIVES: Introduce
tactical defence.

CONTENT: Charge.

DEVELOPMENT: Typical game

of tag in which one person is the
tagging player and must tag the
other teammates. The tagging
player can only tag someone
by performing a charge with
the shoulder against another
player. The charge must be executed correctly. When this happens, the tagging players trades places
with the player he tags. You cannot go outside the marked space.

VARIATIONS: Increase the number of tagging players, reduce the game space…

NAME: “I can only charge” AGE: 8 years and older.

GROUPING: Pairs. MATERIALS: 8 futsal balls.

OBJECTIVES: Introduce tactical defence. CONTENT: Charge.

DEVELOPMENT: All players break off into pairs, one player with the ball and the other without. The
player without the ball must try to steal the ball from the other teammate but only doing so by charging
him/her. Any ball stolen by means other than charging is not valid. Cuand the teammate steals the ball
the teammatees trade places and so on.

VARIATIONS: Reduce the game space, two against two, three against three…
