Honourable Norwegian Nobel Committee,

Ms. Wided Bouchamaoui, Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 2015 proposed to honour the Prime
Ministers of Greece and now North Macedonia, Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev with this year’s
Nobel Peace Prize. We, members of the European Parliament herewith want to support the
nomination with this letter signed by ___ MEPs.

We are firmly convinced that Ms. Bouchamaouis proposal is the right approach and of high
importance, considering the complex, ethnically charged and yet unsolved conflicts in the war-
torn Western Balkan region. It is for the first time, that such a pioneering agreement has been
concluded in this region. Both Prime Ministers took this forward under great pressure and it is
thanks to their leadership that it finally had a positive outcome. Their nomination sends out a
sign, that courage and progressive thinking beyond national borders will be rewarded.

We, honourable Committee, think you should seriously consider rewarding the achievements
of both Prime Ministers with the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize. The award would support Zoran Zaev
and Alexis Tsipras in the reconciliation process of the agreement in their home countries as
well as encourage other countries with highly complex ethnical conflicts to follow their
example and to contribute to a peaceful neighbourhood in mutual recognition and respect.
