3 PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Refer to Ref. 1: PFD “Gas Dehydration & TEG Regeneration Package” Doc. No. AG-320-PD-0001

Wet gas from the M.P. Compressor 2 nd stage Discharge Coolers and liquid from H.P. Compressor 2 nd Stage
Suction K.O.D.s are collected and routed to the Filter Separator V-32001 (1x100%), where entrained and/or
condensed liquid is removed. Condensate from Filter Separator is routed to M.P. Compressor 2 nd Stage
Suction K.O.D.s (supplied by others). The Filter Separator will be provided with suitable internals to minimize
liquid entrainment in the outlet gas stream. Downstream of the Filter Separator, gas enters the Glycol
Contactor V-32002 (1x100%), an absorption column where it is contacted with a lean TEG solution. The
Glycol Contactor is provided with a demister to minimize TEG losses. Finally dehydrated gas enters the
Gas / Glycol Heat Exchanger (X-32001) where Lean TEG solution is cooled down (temperature approach of
glycol and gas inlet to Glycol Contactor is of 8.3 oC). Dehydrated slightly superheated gas is routed to the
H.P. Compressor 1st Stage Suction K.O.D.s.

Rich TEG from the Glycol Contactor is routed under level control to the TEG Regeneration Package. Rich
TEG is first preheated in the Reflux Condenser against condensing vapours and in the Cold Rich / Lean
Glycol Exchanger against the regenerated lean glycol. Then it is flashed in the Rich Glycol Flash Drum, a
three-phase separator where TEG degassing and light hydrocarbon fraction separation is carried out. From
the flash drum, rich TEG under level control enters first the Glycol Solid Filters, then the Glycol Charcoal
Filter to remove any solid particle and hydrocarbon traces. Finally rich TEG enters the Hot Rich / Lean Glycol
Exchanger where it is heated against regenerated lean glycol prior to entering the Still Column; the latter is a
packed type column where water vapours are removed and TEG regenerated to the required specification.
The Glycol Reboiler, electric heater type, provides the heat required for the regeneration process.

The Stripping gas used would achieve the required lean TEG purity (> 99.1% by weight). Fuel Gas is used
as Stripping gas and is taken from fuel gas system. The Stripping Column will be located between the Glycol
Reboiler and the Glycol Surge Drum. Lean TEG from the Stripping Column is routed to the Hot Rich / Lean
Glycol Exchanger and Cold Rich / Lean Glycol Exchanger for heat recovery and then to the Glycol Surge
Drum. Lean TEG is pumped by the Glycol Circulation Pumps to the Gas / Glycol Heat Exchanger prior to
entering the Glycol Contactor.

TEG Make-up & Drain Tank will provide Lean TEG make-up due to operating losses; at the same time it is
sized to accommodate the TEG inventory in case of Dehydration system maintenance. The Glycol Transfer
Pump will be used to transfer lean TEG from the Make-up and Drain tank to the Glycol Surge Drum.

Downstream the Filter Separator, a by-pass line is provided to allow for continuous production also when the
Gas Dehydration System is down; in such a case, to avoid hydrate formation, methanol injection is
envisaged.

The gas composition contains aromatics, which are absorbed by the glycol and emitted as vapour from the
reboiler stripping column causing a hazard to platform personnel when it emerges from the atmospheric
vent. As the aromatic compounds are at trace level, it may be sufficient to include a condenser and recovery
vessel for the reboiler off-gas in the TEG regeneration unit.

Vendor to ensure that aromatics do not act as poison to charcoal filters.
