MVVS Murthi
M.A., B.L., Ph.D.
President
GITAM University

I welcome you to GITAM Centre for Distance Learning that offers

learner-centered, open, flexible, affordable and quality education
through a wide range of programmes.

Distance education is now considered to be an integral part of

achieving access and inclusive growth of higher education. This calls
for quality education to reach the hitherto unreached. We therefore
need a system of education which is independent of time, place
and pace to suit the needs of aspirants.

I am immensely pleased to note that GITAM Centre for Distance

Learning is fulfilling this need by offering several useful programmes
in the disciplines of management, science and humanities. The
learners are free to choose a progrmme suitable to their requirement
and accentualize their potential for a fruitful and rewarding career.

An important additional feature of this Centre is online learning in

select programmes being introduced this year to facilitate interactive
learning among learners, thus enhancing access and flexibility.

I earnestly hope that a large number of learners will be benefited

from the distance learning programmes offered by GITAM Centre
for Distance Learning.

Prof.G.Subrahmanyam
Vice-Chancellor
GITAM University

Hearty welcome to GITAM Centre for Distance Learning.

GITAM University is a premier educational institution in Andhra Pradesh
dedicated to the cause of teaching and research of global standards. It
offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research
programmes in diverse disciplines such as engineering, science,
management, international business and pharmacy. The Ministry of Human
Resources Development, Govt. of India has highly rated GITAM University
and included it in ““A category”” among the Deemed Universities in the
country.
In a developing country like India, reach, relevance and quality are critical
dimensions of higher education. With such a low gross enrollment ratio
in higher education, the onerous task of every university is to enhance
the reach to meet the ever growing demand for higher education. With
the constraints limiting the scope for expansion in the conventional system,
distance education supplements and sometimes is the only alternative
to meet this demand.
Against this background, GITAM Centre for Distance Learning is unique
in offering a wide range of programmes to interested learners of various
ages, background, locations and needs with a well-structured learner
support system through a wide network of study centers located in
convenient places across the state. The curriculum of each programme
is designed to reflect the latest developments and to suit the requirements
of the industry. The course material is prepared in self-learning format
easily understandable by the learners.
I hope more and more learners will take advantage of these programmes
and build a bright career.

GITAM Centre for Distance Learning (GCDL)
With the rapid explosion of knowledge in various areas across
disciplines and the growing urge for acquisition of knowledge among
the vast sections of the public, education has come to be regarded
as a lifelong process, no more confined to schools, colleges and

of imparting education to the ever growing number of learners in
all walks of life by adopting innovative methods to reach all those
seeking higher education irrespective of their gender,
socioeconomic background, location, status, etc.,
