2.0 Introduction

This product is inspired from a simple kick stand and factory standard double stand that

commonly known is very unstable. This product mainly using mechanical lever concept to lock

the front wheel into place.

The purpose of this product is to eliminate the risks of bike to topple if any external

forces act on it. It also reduces the space usage of bike parking since traditional kick stand lean

the bike to left and consuming parking space. Our main targeted customer is the owner of entry

level sport bike to high end level super bike.

 Concept chosen meets the necessary security features.

 The frame is made using forged steel to avoid bending.

 Sharp edges are sanded to make sure it won’t hurt tires.

Gathering Information

Motorcycle traditionally equipped with kick stand and double stand. A kickstand is a

device on a bicycle or motorcycle that allows the bike to be kept upright without leaning against

another object or the aid of a person. A kickstand is usually a piece of metal that flips down from

the frame and contacts the ground. It is generally located in the middle of the bike or towards the

rear. Some touring bicycles have two: one at the rear, and a second in the front.

A center stand kickstand is a pair of legs or a bracket that flips straight down and lifts the

rear wheel off the ground when in use. Center stands can be mounted to the chain stays right

behind the bottom bracket or to the rear dropouts. Many motorcycles feature center stands in

addition to side stands. The center stand is advantageous because it takes most of the

motorcycle's weight off its tires for long-term parking, and it allows the user to perform

maintenance such as chain adjustments without the need for an external stand. Center stands are

found on most "standard" and "touring" motorcycles but are omitted on most high-performance

sport bikes to save weight and increase ground clearance.

The mechanism in our proposed project are relatively simple. Motorcycle and bicycle

chocks are bifurcated and fit around the front wheel, supporting the bike and preventing its

movement. Front wheel chock is better than the stand as they provide perfect 90° bike position

and preventing from accidental topple from people colliding onto it.

We are targeting owner of range entry sport bike to high end bike which are too heavy to

lift if they topple. Other reason may catch interest from those people is our product are

aesthetically beautiful.

Brace & Cradle

This unit is the cornerstone of all available front wheel chocks invented as it consists of few

reworked safety features. The cradle position is theoretically can be adjusted to fit the owner’s

front tire size. Thus, making this unit to be flexible to any improvement and changes

Lock

The locking mechanism effortlessly and securely supports your motorcycle in an upright position

on all transportation platforms. The chock will hold your motorcycle so securely, only one

person is needed to load and unload any bike, and only two tie-down straps are required if it is

used when transporting on a haul truck of pick up trucks.

The Base

When debating the best wood for flooring, one of the best places to start is by looking at the

options offered by hard and soft wood. Woods offer better aesthetic but lower tolerance for

weight while metal plate does give advantage for strength, in drawback it cost more and easily to

build up rust over time. For heavier types of motorcycle, we may need consider using metal

plates.

After analyzing four designs of the motorcycle stands, Product 4 (Front Chock) has
come out as the best design. It is not like an ordinary motorcycle stands. Even though, the design
of the product is more complex than others but all the criteria meet our specification. Product 4 is
more stable than others even though the size is medium. It is also easy to use compare to product
3. Then, we want to create a product that are multi-function and high reliability. The most
important thing, the safety of product 4 is good because it is attached with lock for front wheel.
So, the ideal design for motorcycle stands or lock is product 4.

5.0 Possible Improvement

1- Automated Locking System

By using the concept of spring and lever, we can easily make a simple mechanism to

deploy the lock on wheel when certain amount of force applied on the mechanism.

2- Alarm System

In conjunction of using special mechanical mechanism to detect loads, it also can be used

to activate electronic alarm system. Advancing the technology today, we may include

Arduino Intelligent system to notice owner by sending notifications using specialized app

or thru text messages if any harsh movement such as robbery.
