Duties and responsibilities of the lab instructors (GA students):

 All lab instructors and the coordinator are to assemble in Block 3, 10 minutes prior to each lab. Check if
the equipment is ready to use and report if there is any problem regarding previous week experiment to
the lab coordinator.
 Conduct viva/pretest to check the readiness of the students prior to the experiment. Starting from the 3rd
experiment only.
 Take note on the late comer(s) and deduct his/her marks by 50%.
 Supervise the students in doing the experiments.
 Evaluate the reports and give feedback on the content and what needs to be improved. E.g. report of
experiment in week 5 will be submitted by the students prior to the experiment in week 6. Evaluate the
report while the students doing their experiment. Once the students are finish with the experiment, give
them the feedback on the report.

NOTE:
● On the day of the experiment, let the lab instructor knows that you’re there. Then, hand over the
report of the previous experiment to the corresponding lab instructor and discuss for the viva (post-
test), if applicable. Then, go back to your current experiment and do the pre-test (starting from the
3rd experiment onwards).

● DO NOT come late!!! 50% marks deduction on the pretest and 10% group marks deduction will be applied
to those (individual & group) who come late!

● DO NOT come unprepared! GA students will conduct a pretest, starting from the 1st experiment (week 3),
prior to the experiment to check if each student understands what to do. Pretest can be conducted in the
form of interview, short quiz or practice.

● Bold numbers in light yellow box = group numbers

● Numbers in white box = experiment numbers with short report

● Numbers in light orange box:

of the lab assessments.
c) In case of lab falls on the public holiday, lab session will be replaced at other suitable time subjected
to availability.
d) In case of equipment breakdown, your experiment will be replaced with another available
equipment. However, cases below apply:
● If equipment breakdown happens after more than half of the experiment requirement, you
must proceed with the available results.
● If equipment breakdown happens less than half of the experiment requirement or before any
results obtained, the experiment must be replaced with other available
experiment/equipment.

11. LAB SAFETY

a) Properly attired.
● You MUST wear your lab coat whenever you are in the lab.
● Other personal protective equipment (PPE, such as goggles, safety helmet, ear plugs, ear muff,
etc) will be provided accordingly.
● These clothing are not allowed in the laboratory:
a. National costumes (baju kurung, cheongsam, saree, traditional outfit, etc),
b. Jubah, skirts (short or long), sarongs, shorts.
c. Sandals, slippers and any uncovered shoes.
● For those who are wearing tudung or hijab, and with long hair, you are required to keep them
neat.

b) The Lab Instructors and Lab Technologists have the authority to ask you to leave the lab if you do not
adhere to the safety regulations.
c) You ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PROCEED with your laboratory work if you fail to do that.
d) Abide to the safety signs in the lab.
