Good morning, today we are going to discuss to you the LAND AND SOIL POLLUTION.

Before anything
else, i just want to share some facts or trivia about our topic for today.

-Americans generate 30 billion foam cups, 220 million tires and 1.8 billion disposable diapers every year.

-We throw away enough trash every day to fill 63,000 garbage trucks.

-Over 80% of items in landfills can be recycled, but they’re not.

-The main human contributor to pollution are landfills.

Now let us define land pollution. Land pollution is the degradation of earth's land surfaces often caused
by human activities and its misuse

Types of Land and Soil pollution

There are different types of land pollution. Many publications group them differently. Let us see these
four main types:

SOLID WASTE : eto yung mga basura natin, have you ever imagine kung saan napupunta yung mga
basura natin? Because these do not easily decay, they pile up in landfills (a place where all the city’s
rubbish are sent), where they stay for thousands of years. These bring great harm to the land and people
around it.

PESTICIDES AND INSECTICIDES

-Usually sa mga barios madaming tanim na palay gulay, we tend to use pesticides and insecticides which
are chemically contaminated than organic fertilizer.

DEFORESTATION When i was in elementary, we usually dig and make a vegetable pot, i remember one
time my teacher told us "kung magpuputol ka ng kahoy, palitan mo ng mas madami para kahit paano
mabawj din"

CAUSE

Governments spend a lot of money cleaning up and managing trash and the polluted landscape. That
money could have been used for other important things such as healthcare and education. Many
landfills are always burning and they cause further air pollution.
