Mfg. Co. Ltd.
The refrigerator product categories include Frost Free, Direct Cool, Bottom mounted and Next

plants located in Mohali (North) and Shirwal (West) cater to the requirement of the markets.
There is much unmet demand and the data for the unmet demand suggests setting up of
additional manufacturing facilities. The challenge is to identify the best region to set up their
third (or fourth, fifth, sixth) manufacturing plant in India. A preliminary manufacturing costs
and transportation costs estimate is as given in table 1 & table 2 below,

Transportation Cost to Demand Regions

With the above data help Godrej Appliances in identifying the best region for meeting the
unmet demand. Once the ideal region is shortlisted the target is to then identify the best location
within the region for establishing the manufacturing plant. Every region will have a distribution

centre near to a railway head to cater to requirements of other regions, but the destinations
within the region must be supplied from the regional manufacturing plant itself. Further each
region will have to source raw materials and sub-assembly components from within the region.
