Paint Procedure
+
1.-Purpose

Correct painting application for pumping systems manufactured in Ruhrpumpen.

2.-Scope

2.1. - Apply for all pump types manufactured at RuhRPumpen.


2.2. - Coatings shall not be applied beyond the shelf life specified on the attached Paint
Data Sheets (PDS).
2.3. - Each successive coat shall be applied within the recoat window defined on the PDS,
otherwise the surface will be re-prepared accordingly.

4.-Definitions

Dimetcote 9.- Inorganic Zinc Silicate Primer.


Amercoat 385HS.- Multi-Purpose Polyamide Epoxy Coating
Amercoat 450HS.- Gloss Acrylic Aliphatic Polyurethane

5. - Responsibility.

5.1. - The application and control of this procedure is painter responsibility.


5.2. - It is responsibility of the Inspector of Quality to verify that the activities of Painting
are done according to normative parameters.

6. - Procedure.

6.0. - Following steps show the standard RuhRPumpen paint system, customized
requirements (If Apply), and are included at Paint System and Paint Data Sheets (PDS)
sections at the end of this document. Information of those section will be mandatory if are
include.

6.1. - Surface preparation and parts protection.

Paint Procedure
Please specified an abrasive shall be used
a) The painter should clean perfectly surface to make sure it is free of dust, oil and
grease. For this, use abrasive for White metal in accordance with the
requirements stipulated by SSPC-SP5, and reviewing anchor profile (According
to ASTM D 4417).
b) Protect pump and motor parts that should not be painted with paper (shaft,
coupling, filters, oiled, lines of lubrication, identification plates). As well as to
put grease in flanges to avoid the adherence of primary Dimetcote 9
The stripe coat shall be required on all welding seam, bolt holes & narrow areas...
6.2 Application of Primary Dimetcote 9

6.2.1 Preparation
Pre-mix base component to homogenize the container, Add powder component slowly under
agitation until fully mixed filtering with a mesh of 30.

6.2.1.1 The surface should be perfectly dry and oil, dust and grease free.

6.2.2 Application Conditions.

6.2.2.1 The application process must take place on surfaces and/or dry coverings, should not
to be applied when the temperature is smaller to 0°F or greater to 120°F, Relative humidity
50% minimum and surface temperature must be at least 5 ºF above the dew point
temperature.

6.2.2.2 When applying make sure that surfaces are dry.

6.2.2.3 The life time of mixture is about 8 hours at 70 ºF.

6.2.3 Application Procedure Primary Dimetcote 9

6.2.3.1 Adjust viscosity for application. Thinners shall be in accordance with the attached PDS

6.2.3.2 Verify that surface is prepared according to recommendations given previously.

6.2.3.3 Reviewing wet Film Thickness during application (According to ASTM D 4414).

6.2.3.4 Remove paper from protected parts or not according to purchase order and to send
equipment to packing area. If the application of another painting is required leave the
papered parts.

6.2.4 Safety.

6.2.4.2 In case of ingestion notify immediately, to request medical assistance.

6.2.4.3 Use security equipment for painting application.

6.3 Application Amercoat 385HS. - Multi-Purpose Polyamide Epoxy Coating

6.3.1 Preparation.
Pre-mix base component to homogenize the container, Add hardener and slowly under
agitation until fully mixed filtering with a mesh of 30 or 40.

6.3.1.1 The primer recommended should be perfectly cured, dry and oil, dust and grease free.

6.3.2 Application Conditions

6.3.2.1 Do not cover enlacement, upon 24 hours later.

6.3.2.2 The application process must take place on surfaces and/or dry coverings, should not
to be applied when the temperature is smaller to 0°F or greater to 120°F, Relative humidity
50% minimum and surface temperature must be at least 5 ºF above the dew point
temperature

6.3.2.3 When applying make sure that surfaces are dry.

6.3.2.4 The life time of mixture is about 3 hours at 70 ºF.

6.3.3 Application Procedure Amercoat 385HS.- Multi-Purpose Polyamide Epoxy Coating.

6.3.3.1 Adjust viscosity for application, thinning shall be in accordance whit the PDS.
Mist coat should be used for application over inorganic zinc primers as indicated in the PDS.

6.3.3.2 The application process must take place on surfaces and/or dry coverings and verify
that surface is prepared according to recommendations given previously.

6.3.3.3 Reviewing wet Film Thickness during application (According to ASTM D 4414).

6.3.3.4 Remove paper from protected parts or not according to purchase order and to send
equipment to packing area. If the application of another painting is required leave the
papered parts.

6.4.2.3 When applying make sure that surfaces are dry.

6.4.2.4 The life time of mixture is about 4 hours at 70 ºF.

6.4.3 Application Procedure Amercoat 450HS. - Gloss Acrylic Aliphatic Polyurethane

6.4.3.1 Adjust viscosity for application, thinning shall be in accordance whit the PDS.
Mist coat should be used for application over inorganic zinc primers as indicated in the PDS.

6.4.3.2 The application process must take place on surfaces and/or dry coverings and verify

6.5.- Coating test The min DFT shall be followed in according with specified DFT in
painting specification with min DFT achieved.

6.5.1 Perform test thicknesses dry according to standard D 7091 Dry film thick-
ness, average measurements must comply with the requirements of design and
timely points allowed with - 20% required.

6.5.2 Testing of adhesion (According to ASTM D 3359) to validate the correct


application of the coating system, adherence to accepted 3A. 4A
