Criterion I: Demonstrate ability to teach effectively and/or perform effectively in other


current assignments.

Methods

Objective 1. Attain an above average (3.5 out of 5) rating through student evaluations.

Evidence
• Statistics and examples from student evaluation.
Expected Outcome
• Gain feedback on teaching style and course adaptations.

Objective 2. Integrate team-based learning techniques for larger class sizes.

Evidence
• Complete the CETL team-based learning course.
Expected Outcome
• Work toward implementing team-based learning in a course to increase study groups
and accountability in class.

Objective 3. Create assignments and provide opportunities for students to reach out to others in the
community and the University.

Evidence
• Class assignments that take students into the University community.
Expected Outcome
• Increase student involvement at the University or Mankato community to build
relationships for Human Performance.

Criterion II: Scholarly or creative achievement or research.

Objective 1. Revise and resubmit manuscript which was submitted for publication in the Spring.

Objective 2. Submit additional research manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed journal as the
lead author.

• Completed manuscript

• Further the body of knowledge in exercise science

Objective 2. Complete and submit an IRB application for jump rope interval study.

Evidence
• Electronic proof of submission and approval of IRB application
Expected Outcome
• Begin data collection for jump rope interval study.
• Include undergraduate research assistants in research.

Objective 3. Identify journals to submit jump rope interval study. This study has the potential to be
published in both a peer-reviewed journal and a popular fitness journal for exercise
prescription.

Evidence
• Outlines of manuscripts to the specific requirements of the identified journals
Expected Outcome
• Have manuscript expectations for this study so writing can begin at the completion
of data analysis.

Criterion III: Evidence of continuing preparation and study.

Objective 1. Attend the following academic conferences.


• Northland Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine- Fall Conference
• Northland Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine- Spring Conference
• MNSU Undergraduate Research Symposium

Expected Outcome
• Increase my own knowledge and research interests in exercise science.
• Assist student involvement in academic conferences.

Objective 2. Study and sit for an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification.

Evidence
• Digital confirmation of certification test.
Expected Outcome
• Increased preparation to teach and research in the field of exercise science.

Objective 3. Develop skills in the planning and execution of the Northland ACSM Fall Meeting
held at MSU Mankato to prepare for running the next Fall Meeting.

Evidence
• Letter of recognition
Expected Outcome
• Learn how to work with the MSU conference planning resources.
• Increase familiarity with Northland ACSM to have conversations on planning needs.

Criterion IV: Contribution to student growth and development.

Objective 1. Mentor my current graduate student in completing her data collection, analysis, and
defense.

Evidence
• Manuscript for defense and graduation.
Expected Outcome
• Ker Lor will have a manuscript for journal submission and fulfill the requirements
for graduation from the master’s program.

Objective 2. Mentor undergraduate research assistants in assisting in personal research and


conducting their own parallel research.

Evidence
• Letter of acknowledgment from students.
Expected Outcome
• Contribute to the growth of undergraduate student research for Exercise Science
majors.

Objective 3. Assist in graduate student research within the department by sitting on a master’s
defense committee.

Evidence
• Letter of acknowledgement from student.
• Defense material.
Expected Outcome
• Increase relationships between the sub-disciplines and contribute to student’s
academic growth.

Objective 4. Increase advising competency and effectiveness by developing advising materials and
holding group advising meetings.

Evidence
• Copies of developed advising materials.
• Results from advising survey from advisees.
Expected Outcome
• Aid in student’s self-knowledge of degree plans and requirements.

Objective 5. Increase student participation in the Northland Chapter of ACSM.

Evidence
• Proof of student participation in the fall meeting quiz bowl.
Expected Outcome
• Increased student growth within ACSM.
• Increased opportunities for student networking for graduate schools and
employment.

Criterion V: Service to the University and community.

Objective 1. Serve Minnesota State University by serving on the AH&N Diversity Committee as
Co-Chair.

Evidence
• Regular attendance at committee meetings.
• Evidence of work accomplished toward the committee’s goals.
Expected Outcome
• The committee is working toward developing a AH&N mentorship/community to
increase involvement of underrepresented populations in academics.

Objective 2. Serve Minnesota State University by serving on the Undergraduate Research Council
Committee and participating in the Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Evidence
• Regular attendance at committee meetings.
• Participation on sub-committees which award grants and symposium proposals.
Expected Outcome
• Contribute to the growth and presentation of undergraduate research in the
department and across campus.

Objective 3. Serve the Human Performance Department by serving on the curriculum committee.

Evidence
• Regular attendance at committee meetings.
• Contribution to editing and approving curriculum proposals.
Expected Outcome
• Contribute to the growth and refinement of the courses and programs within the
department.

Objective 4. Assist in the planning and execution of the Northland ACSM Fall Meeting held at
MSU Mankato.

Evidence
• Email correspondence of planning.
Expected Outcome
• Assist in providing the opportunity in having the meeting on our campus.
• Increase networking opportunities within the ACSM organization.

Objective 5. Continue to form relationships with the after-school communities at elementary


schools and the YMCA.

Evidence
• Correspondence and plans to hold jump rope after-school programs
Expected Outcome
• Create programs where our students can run after-school jump rope classes.
