The 6th grade class would like to invite parish members to help with the last service
project of the year. Our class will be taking donations of food during the Lenten Season
to give to Food for the Poor. The items that are needed most are non-perisable food
products such as; noodle, mac/cheese, and rice cups, pop top cans of ravioli, spaghetti,
pasta sauce, canned fruit, and etc, small boxes of pasta, pudding and fruit cups, shelf
stable milk, cereal, pancake mix made with water, small containers of syrup, and
breakfast bars. Healthy snacks are needed also. We encourage everyone to check the
grocery isles for good tasteing, healthy items that will satisfy a hungry student.
Donations can be placed in the book bags in the back of church. Our class is looking
forward to doing our part to help this service project be successful.

St. Patrick, like so many of our exploited brothers and sisters worldwide, was a victim of what
we now call human trafficking. And he was one of the first great Christian voices against
human trafficking’s brutal cousin, slavery, as he became a slave.

When St. Patrick was about sixteen, he was captured by raiders and brought to what is now
considered to be Antrim (Northern Ireland), where he was sold as chattel to a chieftain and put
into forced service as a shepherd.

St. Patrick eventually escaped, and (after brief recapture) reunited with his family. He began,
upon his return, studying for the priesthood and serving God in thanks. Later, he returned to
Ireland and brought the word of Christ to the people who had so wronged him.

This St. Patrick's Day, we ask you to keep the victims of human trafficking in your heart. We
ask for the intercession of St. Patrick, as we pray for victims of human trafficking everywhere.

Marriage Minute - March 17, 2019

When we think of Lent, we often think of the fasting and repentance. While these
disciplines are the cornerstones of Lent, this weekend’s readings remind us that we are not in for
40 days of “doom and gloom.” Through the transfiguration, Jesus encourages us to focus on
Him, and the joy and glory he wants to share with us.
We can often view ongoing marriage formation like Lent. While it is true that it may take
some sacrifice to attend and some discipline to implement, it makes more sense to look up and
focus on the joy that Jesus wants to share with us in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
One of the best Lenten prayer practices is a weekly holy hour. Plan your holy hour for your
spouse through resources at www.JoyfulMarriageProject.com

Couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2019
Archdiocesan 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration
June 2, 2019, 2:00 pm, Church of the Nativity/Leawood
To receive your invitation from Archbishop Naumann, please call the parish office and give us your name, address,
phone number and date of your wedding.
Please do this as soon as possible.

DONDO N
For many years, a special group of people have made the sacrifice on Sunday mornings to count the offertory
collections from the weekend. With the recent audit, the Archdiocese has suggested that if a parish has a local bank,
they utilize the bank in depositing all collections immediately after mass. Thus, Olpe State Bank personnel will now be
counting all collections. This procedure will ensure additional security and alleviate the need for volunteers, etc.
MANY THANKS to our counting teams, which included Les & Michelle Barnhart, Carolyn Davis, Kevin Flott, Lori
Krueger, Diana Kuhlmann, Darin Musick, and Steve Redeker for your MANY years of DEDICATED service in
completing this weekly task. Your talent, your professionalism, and your most of all-your commitment—did not go
unnoticed. We are forever grateful.
