 Explain to students that we will be discussing Ode today


o Ask what they know about an Ode
o Have the definition of ODE on the board
 A poem that celebrates a subject
 A tribute to an object, person, or event
 It can be serious or humorous
 May or may not use rhyme
Body o Have examples of different poems on the board
(Activity #1) o Ask students to try to start thinking about odes

 Instruct students to write their created definitions in their poetry books
 Have students provide examples of each in their poetry books
 Instruct students to paste all information into their poetry book

 Explain to students how the game of rock, paper, scissors, split works
o In pairs, students will play rock paper scissors
o However there is a twist, students will have to stretch out every time
they lose a round
Body o The individual who wins gets to take a step back, while the loser has to ONLY
(Activity #3) stretch forward to their foot IF
 Ask one of the students to come to the front to do a demonstration NEEDED

 Students will attempt to participate in the activity
 Students will be given this opportunity to move around, and refocus their brains
 Students will act respectful of one another during this time
Transition Details

 When the desired time is up, students are to return to their chairs
Wait for students attention to move onto the next task
