CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Background of the study


There are many students and even some young
professional are addicted to the Defense of the Ancient 2 or
DOTA 2. This is a kind of computer games that can be played
by many players and is one of the most popular game to
young students, and many students get addicted to this game
and they even long hours inside the computer shop just
playing this kind of game.
There are studies that getting addicted in playing
Computer games affect their studies and this is the cause why
they are living to their parents that they need extra money
for their school project but the truth is they are just using
the money to rent a computer where they can play Dota2
with the Classmates. According Rodgers (2016) Defense of
the Ancient (DOTA2) is a multiplayer online battle arena
mode for video the video games Warcraft III Reign of Chaos
and its expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, based on
the on the “Aeon of shift” map for star craft. The scenario
objective is for each team to destroy the opponents ancients,
heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map.u.
The purpose of those research will aim to determine why
Dota2 is the popular game among the Grade 11 Students.
Statement of the Problem

This Research will determine the number of Grade 11


Student In General Santos City National High School
(GSCNHS) that are addicted to Defense of the Ancient
2.
Specially, the following questions will be answered.

1. What is the impact of Dota2 in grade 11 students?

2. Why Dota2 is the very popular game for the youth ?

Objective of the Study


Research is aim to attain the following at the
end of the study
1. To determine why DOTA2 is the most popular game
among the grade 11 students.

2. To be able to share the results of the study to the


student why played DOTA2.

3. To share the results to the students who didn’t play


DOTA2.

Benefits and the Beneficiaries


This researcher will help the following people.
The students, they will gain knowledge and effect
about the popular Game. The parents, this study will
give them a knowledge about this game the facts and
the effect on this popular game

the researcher, they will gain a knowledge about


the DOTA2 and why it is very most popular game
among the grade 11 students.

The future researcher, this study will serve a


researcher that they can look up for the review of this
literature for their future researcher.

The gamers of the dota2, they will help this


research to aware them and what will the effect of
playing dota2 or playing addicted online games.

Scope and Delimitation


The study will be conducted in General Santos City
National High School, specially to the grade 11
students. The respondents will be in senior high school
students. The research aim to find why DOTA2 is the
most popular game among the grade 11 students.

Chapter II
Review of Literature and
Related Studies
This chapter examines the theories and pertinent
research findings related to principals’ management
style, teaching performance of the teachers, and
work ethics. This review will build the theoretical
foundation for conduct of the study.
A. Related Literature
According to Dendi, (2011), The Defense of
the Ancient 2 or DOTA2 are very popular game among
the young professional and the gamers, they will help
them to reduce stress anxiety and depression. It can
boost their mental statistics and strategies to defend
their team base in the game. The DOTA 2 can also
relax themselves from their daily living

B. Related Studies
According to Dr Milbert, (2017), there are
two types of effect on the online game to the player
first the good effect it will help the player to relax and
to relieve the depression and stress to the player,
second the bad effect of playing online game it will
effect the studies and the health of the player like not
focusing on the lesson and the slowly blurry of the
eyes and the player can absorb radiation from the
monitor or other devices.
Chapter III
METHDOLOGY

Research Design
This investigation was concerned generally to see
how the teenager addicted to the DOTA2 and
determine the level of the awareness regarding to the
effect of addiction to the online games and this study
is to understand why the DOTA2 is very addicted to
the teenager and the good effects and the bad effects
to the player.

Participants
The participants of this study was the selected
students of the General Santos City National High
School (GSCNHS) from the grade 11 students who are
playing Defense of the Ancient or DOTA2

Locale of the Study


This study was conducted in General Santos City
National High School located at Rizal Street, Barangay
Calumpang, General Santos City.

DATA COLLECTION
The Following were the steps or process on
how to gather the data although the conduct on
the study.
1. Asked permission to the school principal of
General Santos City National High School.
2. Conducted and interview to the Grade 11
students of General Santos City National High
School.
3. Classify the data gathered.

SAMPLING
This study utilize Convenient. Convenient Design
is a method that is intentionally select the
respondents to represent experiences of the
students in playing Defense of the Ancient 2.

INSTRUMENTATION
The researchers used an interview guide to
gather data from the Grade 11 participants. The
instruments helped the researchers easily collect
the information from the respondents that is
needed.

SUMMARY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSION
AND RECOMMENDATION
This Chapter present the summary, findings,
conclusion and recommendation derived from
the result of this study

Summary of Findings
This study was conducted to determined
the bad effect and good effect of playing
Defense of the ancients 2.
Specially, this research attempted to
investigate the following:
1. What are the cause playing Defense of the
ancient2?
2. What are the impact of playing defense of
the ancient in terms of:
2.1 addiction

2.2 paranoia

2.3 bad grades


3.Why the player playing Defense of the
Ancient in terms of:

3.1 relaxing

3.2 stress reliever

The result of the study significant to the
following. ict student’s, parent and school
department. The study focused on the
addicted playing defense of the ancient. This
study conducted at the Grade 11 students of
the General Santos City National High School
year 2018-2019.
Also, the study unveils the review of
literature, foreign, local and related studies.
In General Santos City National High School.
Also, grade 11 students, defense of the
ancient: the popular game among grade 11
students of the General Santos City National
High School are defined operationally for the
better understanding of the study. These are
the terms that can help in understanding the
study thoroughly.
Moreover, the respondents of this study
were the Grade 11 students under the
Seniorhigh Curriculum of the General Santos
City National High School year 2018-2019, Out
of the total population of senior high students,
6 were taken as sample of the study.
Conclusions
From the findings derived from the result
of the study following conclusions were
formulated.
Shows that playing dota has a good and bad
effect to the player.
