3.0 YEAR 12 STUDENT ACTIVITY TASK

a) SUBMISSION During Internal Assessment Moderation day

b) AIM Teacher s are encouraged to conduct RECAP Session for the following Year 11
topics:
1) CE 11.1.1 – Structures and Function of the Computer
2) CE 11.1.2 – Health and Safety Issues
3) CE 11.2.1 – Application Software
4) CE 11.3.1 – Storing, managing and Retrieving

Students will apply knowledge and skills learnt in the following topics to complete
this task.

1) CE 12.1.1 – The Internet and the World Wide Web


2) CE 12.1.2 – Careers for Computing Professionals
3) CE 12.1.3 – Computers in Society
4) CE 12.1.4 – Communications and Networks
5) CE 12.3.1 – Managing and Maintaining Data
c) DESCRIPTION MOEHA Pillar 3 – Improvement of Infrastructure

A school computer lab is any computer lab built, designed, and maintained by or
for a school. Many schools are currently have revamped and upgraded their
computer lab to provide a conducive teaching and learning environment for
teachers and students as part of the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts
(MOEHA) Education Reforms.

A school that was severely damaged by Tropical Cyclone Winston on 20th


February 2016 had a computer lab. You are hired by the school administrator as
IT professional to set up the school computer lab.

d) TASK – PART A Use the following steps as a guide to complete the task.

i. Role and responsibility


a) Choose and explain the primary role as an IT professional you play to carry-
out this task.
• Choose and explain the network type suitable for the school computer
lab
• List the phases and activities taken to complete this task
ii. Network
Architecture
• Identify which network topology best relates to the network type in (ii –
a) above
• Use diagrams to show the network topology for the school computer lab.
• Properly name (and label) the sending and receiving devices, channel,
connection devices and protocols used.
• Explain how each devices works in your set-up

iii. Result
Give at least two advantages and two disadvantages of the network type
to the school

TASK – PART B The project write-up should include:


• Cover page ( Title, 2017, school name ,student index number, student
name( as on the BC), Year , teacher's name, relevant picture and page
border)
• Aim
• Objective
• Acknowledgement
• Methodology
• Table of contents ( use automatic table of content )
• Introduction
• Research Findings: (i-iii)
• Conclusion and Recommendation

(Note: The document footer should include student’s index number and student’s
name and page number on every page of the write-up.

• Students are to save their write up using their full name as filename.
• All working documents are to be saved in a CD and submit to your
teacher.
