During my primary years, I have to come to realize my talent in mathematics since I have

always put in less effort than my peers, but eventually obtained a better result. I have also
been selected to participate the Mathematics Olympiad competition and won the prizes.
Mathematics has been my favorite and best subject throughout my school years, especially
at O level and A level.

During my four-year study in NUS, I worked as a part-time math tutor. I successfully helped
students to ensure they had sufficient knowledge to achieve good grades in their math
exams. The sense of reward that I felt as a result gave me the initial spark of inspiration to
become a teacher. Through my math tutoring experience, I have discovered that I have a
great interest in talking about mathematics as well as learning it o paper. After the
graduation, I chose to be a math teacher in tuition center and this professional experience
taught me that there is much more to the life of a teacher than the narrow remit of teaching
lessons. I love teaching young students because I treasure the opportunity of inspiring them
to take an interest in something that will benefit them in their lives. I came to realize that
schools operate as a community, where teachers support and nurture one another, where
the school has a duty to foster an inclusive learning environment for its children, and where
kids develop in areas beyond academic skills.

As of now, my future career goal is to become involved in teaching mathematics as I would

like to always have this challenge throughout my life. As I have gained greatly from my math
teachers, their style of teaching and what they have shown me beyond the syllabus has
attracted me even more to mathematics. My teachers always tried to inspire students to
think, not just explain the knowledge itself. As I learn more and more, I start to see how
different areas fit together, and how a certain rule can be proved in many ways.

Mathematics is my type of art. I found my passion for this subject and love teaching. Being a
teacher would fulfil my vocation whilst being the area where my strengths lie. Moreover,
xxx is widely recognized for providing high-quality education and great career opportunities.

challenges of studying the developing my mathematics teaching skills to a higher level is

This summer I secured a week of work experience at an accountancy firm to gain an insight into a
potential maths-related career. Whilst I found the placement enjoyable, it reaffirmed my passions
towards the pure and applied mathematics I have studied.
