How to talk about SAFe exams and certification with your students

Exams are closed-book.


• No digital or printed materials, including the SAFe big picture diagram, can be used during the exam.
• No outside assistance from colleagues, instructors, class-mates, or anyone else in person or remote.

Exams are timed.


• Exams are either 90 minutes for 45 question exams; or 120 minutes for 60 question exams.

Review the retake policy.


• First exam attempt is included in the course fee if the exam is taken within 30 days of course completion.
• Second attempt on exam (first retake) can be done immediately after first attempt.
• Third attempt requires a 10-day wait.
• Fourth attempt requires a 30-day wait. There is a fee* associated with exam retakes.

Study resources.
• A study guide and a practice test are available after course completion and included in the student’s learning

Exam tests application of knowledge.


• SAFe exams are designed to test the application of concepts and practices taught in class. Additional studying
and work will likely be required in order to pass an exam. The study guide is designed to help direct your
learning.

Exam and practice test answers not provided.


• Exams are not designed to “teach” (those are assessments) but rather measure what a student knows or has
learned. Therefore, answers to questions are not provided at any time for the exam and practice test.
• By passing a SAFe exam, a student has met a standard level of competency set forth by Scaled Agile.
