Have the pupils read the problem opener. Task A - Matching Type (Group 1)

Use a place value chart. Put the given numbers under the
corresponding place value before adding them. Emphasize that the
numbers must be written in the appropriate column to arrive at the
correct answer.

Write the missing numbers to complete the puzzle either horizontally,

vertically, or diagonally. Solve and check the correctness of your
answer.
 Have the group post their output on the board. Check pupils’ output.
