This DC-8 Series 60 Air Terminal Handbook has been designed for use by airline and airport planning
management and operating personnel as a comprehensive source of information relative to air terminal oper-
ation of the Series 60 DC-8's. Included are pertinent dimensional and descriptive data, airport operational
rd
l is
considerations. servicing data (excluding maintenance), and emergency procedures. The DC-S Series
60 is composed of three models; 61, 62, and 63. Each model may be produced as an all passenger (e.g. 61),
convertible (e.g. 61CF), and all freight (e.g. 61AF). Data presented in this publication are applicable to
all models unless specifically labeled for one or more models. Items labeled with passenger model numbers
also apply to cargo versions unless otherwise noted. Models 61 and 61F have an overall length of 187.4
feet and a wing span of 142.4 feet. They have greater cargo and passenger-carrying capacity than the
standard DC-B. Models 62 arid 62F have an overall length of 157.4 feet, a wing span increased to 148.4
feet, wing area of 2926.8 square feet, and such aerodynamic improvements as cutback pylons and long duct
pods. Operating gross weights, fuel capacity, and range are also increased. HY Models 63 and 63F have

an overall length of 187.4 feet plus increased wing span and area. Models 63 and 63F incorporate the cutback
pylons and long duct pods, and feature increased range, fuel capacity, and gross weight. More detailed
information is available in the various handbooks applicable to this series aircraft and from the Douglas
Aircraft Company representatives. This publicatipn is presented as reference material and does not super-
