FIRST ROUND
The 18th edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship officially got underway on August
30. A total of 24 teams battled it out across seven cities and 103 matches for the title of world
champion. With no debutants, each team was out to deliver their best result. As expected, Poland put
on a show to remember, dazzling spectators with their action and entertainment both on and off the
court.

also made history by earning a berth to the third round for the first time thanks to two more victories over Australia and Serbia.
SECOND ROUND
The top four teams from each pool from the first round were split into two groups (Pools E and F) for
the second round played in Łódź, Bydgoszcz, Katowice and Wrocław. Only Poland, Russia and Brazil
remained unbeaten going into the next stage. However, Pools E and F proved much tighter than
anyone expected, with the teams for the third round decided on the final day of the second round.

Even 14 points from Michał Winiarski, one of the sole survivors from
the 2006 and 2010 World Championships, couldn’t stop USA dealing
