Paper 1:

“EFFECT OF AIR ENTRAINED ON THE STRENGTH AND DURABILITY OF

CONCRETE”.

JOURNAL DETAILS:- IJMER 2011

AUTHOR:- POUL KLIEGER.

Objectives:

 He has conducted series of test using concrete with slump size 5-6 inch
by using different size of aggregates.

 He used the olive oil as admixture and the duration of 7,28 days for
curing.

Outcomes:

 For constant cement and consistency of smaller size aggregates there is

less reduction in strength as the air content increases.

 In all cases the entrainment of air increases the resistance to concrete to

freezing and thawing and to surface scaling.

 Concrete made with small size aggregate require higher air content for
same freezing and thawing resistance.
Paper 2 :- BEHAVIOUR OF AIR ENTRAINED CONCRETE AFTER

FREEZE-THAW CYCLES.

AUTHOR:-ELSEVIER.

JOURNAL DETAILS:-IJMER 2010

Objectives:

 He studied air entrained concrete specimens subjected to different

cycles of freeze thaw.

 The dynamic modulus of elasticity, the compressive strength of air

entrained concrete were measured after 0 , 100, 200, 300, 400 cycles of
freeze thaw.

Outcomes:

 The experimental results showed that the dynamic modulus of elasticity

and strength decrease as the freeze thaw was repeated.

 The influences of freeze thaw cycles on the mechanical properties, the

compressive strength increases and weight losses by 5% from ordinary
harden concrete were analyse according to the experimental results.
