B. RESUME

WHAT IS RESUME?

 Brief document that summarizes your education, employment history and experiences that are
relevant to your qualification for a particular job for which you are applying.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RESUME, CV AND BIODATA


Resume Contents:

1. Identification 2. Address 3. Objective


(Name, phone no., email)
4. Work experience 5. Education 6. Honors (if any)
7. Skills 8. Character reference

C. INTERVIEW

TOP TIPS :

 List a career objective if you’re clear on what you want to do or you’re applying for.
 List your school, degree year & any honors
 1 – 2 pages (fresh graduate)
 3 pages (with work experience)

WHAT NOT TO PUT IN A RESUME :

o The word “resume” on top of the resume


o Incorrect contact info
o Unprofessional email, and picture
o Reasons for leaving
o Salary info
o Applicant’s signature
o Grammatical incorrect statement
o Wrong spelling items

D. COVER LETTER/APPLICATION LETTER

 is a job application document sent with your resume to provide additional information about your
skills and experience
 -is intended to provide detailed information on why are you are a qualified candidate for the job
you are applying for.

 How you found out about the opening
 MIDDLE
 Refer to you resume
 Highlight your skill

 Indicate your interest in meeting to discuss

E. PREPARING FOR A JOB INTERVIEW

 Research about the company — check their website, online forums, etc.
Location, how to go there, Is it multinational company? Local?

 Research about the job itself (Check the job description thoroughly)
 Check how your skills will relate to the job your applying for
 Be prepared to make an assessment of your strengths and weaknesses
 Read English books & watch foreign films
 Dress for success
 Pray and commit your interview to God

LESSON 2 : WORK IMMERSION AND WORK ETHICS

A. WORK IMMERSION
 refers to the subject of the Senior High School Curriculum, which involves
hands-on experience or work simulation in which learners can apply their
competencies and acquired knowledge relevant to their track.
B. WORK ETHICS
 Ethics - is name given to our values of good behavior.
 Moral - Relates to right and wrong.
 Values - are beliefs that a person feels very important.
 Norms - It is a set of moral choices, rules and codes of conduct that governs
behavior

WORK ETHICS - the collection of all the values and actions that people feel are appropriate in the work
place.

C. STEPS TOWARDS BETTER WORK ETHICS


1. Attendance - Attendance and punctuality often have a large impact on individual and
team success. Tardiness or absenteeism can also profoundly impact job performance.

How You Can Maintain Good Attendance:

 Make work a high priority


 Know your schedule
 Make use of an ALARM clock
 Get enough sleep
 Arrange your transportation
 Inform your supervisor of an absence
2. Character - An employer expects employees to work together toward achieving
the objectives of the company.
Some of these traits include the following:
§ Loyalty
§ Trustworthiness
§ Dependability
§ Initiative
§ Self-discipline
§ Self-responsibility
3. Teamwork - It is vital that employees work as a team. It is important not only to
their personal success and advancement, but also to that of their co-workers and to
the company.
Teamwork involves the following aspects:
 Respecting the rights of others
 Being a team worker
 Being cooperative
 Seeking opportunities for continuous learning
 Respecting confidentiality
4. Appearance - A person makes their first impression of someone in three seconds. If
you appear unkempt someone is going to think that you do sloppy work.
5. Productivity - In order to be a productive student and employee, a person must
follow safety procedures, conserve materials, keep the work area neat and clean and
follow directions properly.
6. Organizational skills - Employers consider effective time management and
organizational skills as good work habits
7. Communication - Is how we interact with each other. Communication whether it is
verbal or nonverbal must be clear, to the point, and one must keep in mind that we
must always treat others as we would like others to treat us.
8. Cooperation - involves developing good working relationships, following the chain
of command, good at conflict management, and being a good problem solver.
9. Respect – Respect your subordinates as you do your superiors

 Follow safety instructions
 Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
1.2 What do you do if someone gets hurt at work?
 Tell your team leader
 Follow the safety rules
 Get help

 NOTE ! Emergencies : In the case of an accident or emergency, it is important to know where


the emergency equipment is and what to do.

A hazard is anything that could hurt you or make you sick.
