in outlets;

 Identify various sources of electricity; and

 Describe the different sources of electricity

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Sources of Electricity

A. Science Concepts:

1. Electricity may come from batteries, generator, solar power

and an electric power station.

2. Electrical devices or equipment in the homes may operate

using batteries or electricity from power station. Some
electrical equipments using both sources.

B. Science Processes : Classifying, Identifying and Describing

C. Materials

Concrete objects such as (electric fan, toy car, flashlight,

Television) activity charts, pictures different of sources of
electricity, appliances and laptop

D. References: Science Teachers Guide pp. 160-161

Learner’s Material pp. 143-144

E. Values: Importance of Electricity and Safety Measures in Using

Electricity
III. Procedure

4. Checking of attendance

Is everybody present?

Class secretary tell the class how many

boys and girls are present and how many
are absent today.

5. Review

Write B if the appliances is operated by

battery, E if plugged in outlets and BE if
using both sources.

control. What will you use to make it Teacher, we use batteries to make it
move? move.

Alright, we will use batteries to make this

toy car move.
How about this electric fan? What will Plug-in to outlets.
you do to make it turn on?

Class, how about flashlight?

Teacher, we use battery to make it turn
on.

What will you use to make it turn on?

Teacher, plugged-in to outlet to charge

the batteries.
Alright, we use battery to make it turn on.

Aside from battery, what else?

That’s right. We use both battery and

electricity to turn on the flashlight.

C. Unlocking of Difficulties

Class, let’s unlock first the following words.

What can you see in the first picture? batteries

source of power.
How about in the next picture? electric power station

electric power station

When do we use electric power station? electric power station -is an industrial
facility used to generate electric power
with the help of one or more generators
which converts different energy sources
into electric power.

generator
How about this picture?

generator

generator a dynamo or similar machine

When do we use generator?
for converting mechanical energy into
electricity.

Take a look at the last picture, what can solar power

you see in the picture?

solar power

When do we use solar power?

solar power – power obtained by
harnessing the energy of the sun’s rays.
D. Presentation

Class, for today you will learn about the

different Sources of Electricity.

Are you familiar with the game 2 pics 1

word, I will show 2 pictures and then guess
the word based on the pictures.

Class, after you have seen the pictures on

the television. We’re going to have a group
activity. You’re going to classify the
appliances/objects that operate using
battery, plugged-in outlets, or using both
sources.

E. Exploring

1. Setting of standard in conducting a

group activity.

What are the standards in conducting 1. Read the direction / instructor

the group activity? Will you give one? carefully.

2. Work quietly.

What else? 3. Work cooperatively in doing or

activity.
Another?
4. Follow the time allotment for the
activity.
Aside from that what else?
5. Give idea.

Class, I will group you into 4 groups. Each

group must have their representative /
leader.

I’m going to distribute an activity chart and

an envelope to each group. Each envelope
contains different pictures of appliances or
object that we use at home.

You are going to place the picture

according to their group.
Choose a reporter in your group to present
your output.

Can I have 1 representative in your group?

Get one envelope.
