The airframe of a fixed-wing aircraft consists of five principal units: the fuselage,
wings, stabilizers, flight control surfaces, and landing gear. Helicopter airframes consist of the
fuselage, main rotor and related gearbox, tail rotor (on helicopters with a single main rotor),
and the landing gear.

Airframe structural components are constructed from a wide variety of materials. The
earliest aircraft were constructed primarily of wood. Steel tubing and the most common
material, aluminum, followed. Many newly certified aircraft are built from molded composite
materials, such as carbon fiber.

ESTRUTURAS DE AERONAVES
A célula de um aeronave de asas fixas consiste de cinco unidades principais: a fuselagem, asas,
estabilizadores, superfícies de controle de voo e trem de pouso. A célula de helicópteros consiste da fuselagem,
rotor principal e caixa de transmissão relacionada, rotor de cauda (em helicópteros com um único rotor principal)
e o trem de pouso.
Os componentes estruturais da célula são construídos a partir de uma ampla variedade de materiais. As
primeiras aeronaves foram construídas principalmente com madeira. Tubos de aço e os materiais mais comuns,
alumínio, vieram logo após. Muitas das mais novas aeronaves certificadas são construídas com materiais
compostos moldados, tais como fibra de carbono.
Os membros estruturais da fuselagem de uma aeronave incluem stringers, longarinas, nervuras, parede
de pressão e mais. O principal membro estrutural da asa é chamada de longarina da asa (WING SPAR). O
revestimento de uma aeronave também pode ser feito com uma variedade de materiais, desde tecido
impregnado com até compensado, alumínio e compostos.
Sob o revestimento e ligados a estrutura da fuselagem estão os diversos componentes que dão suporte a
estrutura. Toda a célula e seus componentes são unidos por rebites, parafusos e outros fixadores. Soldas,
adesivos e técnicas especiais de colagem também são utilizadas.
