It is with great pleasure that I am seeking an elementary teaching position within your school district. I
strongly feel that my instructional abilities, interpersonal skills, and work ethic will greatly benefit your
educational program. I believe that teachers should strive to establish a positive and productive learning
environment by engaging both personally and academically with students to help build positive,
meaningful relationships. Every student is a unique individual and learns in a different way, and it's the
teacher's responsibility to meet their needs and make sure they have the tools they need to be successful
learners. I truly believe that learning is a lifelong process and I hope to encourage my students to be as
passionate about learning as I am. I truly believe that I would be a great addition to the communities of
your school district, and I would greatly appreciate your consideration for this position.
This coming May, I will graduate with my teaching certification in Early Childhood Education from South
Dakota State University, along with certification in Elementary Education that I will receive from Dakota
State University. As an undergraduate student at South Dakota State University and Dakota State
University, I took numerous courses in child development, literacy and numeracy, documentation,
assessment and curriculum, and teaching methods. In addition to coursework relating to education, I
participated in numerous field experiences throughout the Brookings community and surrounding area. I
am currently completing my student teaching experience in a fourth-grade classroom at Sioux Valley
Elementary in Volga, SD.

I am originally from a small farming community in southern Minnesota and have always pictured myself
teaching in a rural elementary school such as yours. I feel as if this school district would be a great fit for
me, as I can see many similarities between this district and these communities and the ones that I have
grown up in and hope to see myself teaching in someday.
