CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

Very good afternoon to all gathered here. Respected Dignitaries on the


dais and off the dais, delegates and every one gathered, on behalf of our
Institute and the Management I extend a warm and hearty welcome.

In these two days we had extensive and informative deliberations. The


time has come to present before you the proceedings of the conference.

It gives me immense pleasure to say that this conference is a success to a


large measure.

The concept of Skill India, Make in India and Women Entrepreneurship


was highlighted, discussed and its benefits and impacts were duly noted
throughout all the sessions.

The conference was inaugurated on 13th April, 2017 by Sri. Allen


Periera, Former Chairman & Managing Director, Bank of Maharashtra.
Sri. K.M. Udupa, Managing Trustee, Bharathiya Vikas Trust, Udupi was
the Chief Guest. The inaugural function followed by scholarly key note
address by Dr. A.K. Singh, Assistant Director, Regional Centre for
Urban and Environmental Studies, Lucknow University Campus,
Lucknow.

There were 251 delegates comprising 106 faculty members, research


scholars, industry representatives and 145 PG students drawn from
different colleges and institutes from Karnataka and other states.
In addition to the above 15 faculty members and 210 students from
AJIM were also part of the conference.

The total number of paper presented was 121.

The First Technical Session was on the theme “Make in India” wherein
Mr. Arun V.J., Executive Director, RUDSETI, Ujire was the Resource
Person and Prof. Jnaneshwar Pai, JKSHIM, Nitte was the Rapporteur.

The Second Technical Session was on the theme “Skill India” where in
Dr. P. Selvaraj DGM, Banker’s Institute of Rural Development,
Mangalore was the Resource Person and Prof. Rashmi H. MNSM
Besant Institute of PG Studies, Mangalore was the Rapporteur.

The Third Technical Session was on the theme “Entrepreneurship”


where in Dr. O.P. Singh, Associate Professor, K.G. Medical University,
Lucknow was the Resource Person and Dr. Rashmi Kodikal Professor,
Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangalore was the
Rapporteur.

The Fourth Technical Session was for “Student Paper Presentation”. Dr.
Beena Dias, Professor, AIMIT, Mangalore and Dr. Naveen Kumar K.R.,
Professor, PIM, Udupi. Simultaneously Student Paper Presentation
Competition was also held under same Technical Session. For which the
panel members were Dr. Ganesh Bhat S., HOD of Commerce, St.
Mary’s College, Shirva and Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri Professor, Sahyadri
College of Engineering and Management, Mangalore.
Now we turn to day two. In the morning session there was a video
presentation on skill India and Make in India developed by the students
of this Institute. Thereafter, there was the panel discussion on women
entrepreneurship. The panel consisted of 6 successful women
entrepreneurs from coastal Karnataka shared their views and enriched
our knowledge block. The Panel Members were Mrs. Vathika Pai, Vice
President, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Proprietor,
Vathika International Travels, Mangalore, Mrs. Sadhana Mallya,
Managing Trustee, Aditi Pratishtan, Manipal, Mrs. Renu Jayaram,
Managing Partner, Jaydev Motors, Udupi, Mrs. Sheetal Mascarenhas,
Proprietor, First Step, Mangalore, Mrs. Divyarani Pradeep, Founder,
Lifeline Telecom, Udupi, Dr. Gayathri R., Director, Raja’s Dental
Care, Manipal, Dr. Anjali Ganesh., Professor, St. Joseph Engineering
College, Mangalore.

All the beautiful things have to come to an end, so also our conference. I
assure you that our Institute will not think twice to have more number of
these types of educational initiatives in future.
