Renville Treat is a historical treat between indonesia and netherlands and it was

signed at 17 january 1948. It called renville treat because the negotiations was hapenned in
USS Warship, Renville. This negotiations were mediated by three-state commision. It was
consist of belgium and it was represented by Paul Van Zeeland, Australia was represented by
Richard Kirby and U.S, and it was represented by Dr.Frank Graham. Renville Negotiation
was held to finish conflict between Indonesia ( Represented by Amir Syarifudin Harahap)
and Netherlands ( Represented by R.Abdul Kadir Wijoyoatmojo). Both of them were in the
middle of bad situation. This situation was caused by the netherlands’ action in Military
Agretion I in 21 July until 4 august 1947.

Renville Treat Has many deals, some of it is : Republic of Indonesia is gonna be the
Part of Republic of Indonesia Union. 6 months until one year, general election will be held
and Indonesia’s army that has a base on Netherlands’ area have to move it’s position to
Indonesia’s Area. On 29 August 1947, Netherland has stated their area with Van mook’s
Line. It is bordered both of Indonesia and Netherland’s Area. From that border, Indonesia just
got one of third area of java island and Sumatera and it made Indonesia’s Area smaller. This
thing is getting worse with the blocade from netherlands. And the other impact from the treat
is the fall of Amir Sjarifuddin’s Cabinet and Hatta’s cabinet replacing them.Hatta’s Cabinet is
trying to obey the treat. The purpose is to run the diplomacy strategy so from it, International
still believed the Government of Indonesia.

This treat cause a lot of losses. The fact is many of the treats cause lot of harm to
indonesia. This treat is ended when netherlands started the act of Polycional II ( Military
Agretion II) on 19 December 1948

On this day, if the Renville Treaty is reinstated back, it made globalization and
modernization. The community will be suffered from cultural shocked because they weren’t
ready. And the Harmony of social relations will be disrupted
