Contract WW 306W – Sewerage Project at Kensington Place – Petit Verger, Pointe aux Sables

Project Brief

1.0 Project Justification

Kensington Place is a housing complex comprising about 110 houses situated in the vicinity of
the Montagne Jacquot Wastewater Treatment Plant. The houses are presently connected to a
poorly performing sewerage system, having as outlet communal septic tanks and leaching fields,
which are saturated. Moreover, the existing sewerage network also shows signs of saturation,
leading to frequent overflow and blockages and associated odour & environmental problems.

Further to complaints received from the inhabitants as well as from the Ministry of Health and
Quality of Life - Bambous Health Office, the WMA carried out an investigation which revealed
that the present wastewater disposal system is no more functioning efficiently.

The prevailing site conditions represent serious health and environmental/health hazards to the
inhabitants.
