Persuasive writing and speaking advances the progress towards social justice
and equality because it can advance the progress because it can make people choose
a side. The purpose for MLK was to end segregation. The purpose for A Genetics Of
Justice was to inform audience of hardships faced by those in the Dominican Republic
and persuade her audience to speak up for Justice. The purpose for Mala was to
advocate for women’s rights, girl education, and free education all over the world for
every child. Each texts use rhetoric because every single one of them wanted to make a
point across to everybody. They all spoke up for what they wanted to happen for their
communities.
The purpose for LFBJ was to end segregation. King advances his purpose by
using rhetoric one example is “Fellow Clergymen” Dr.King wants to create a friendly
connection with his audience by giving respect and showing he is also religion. Also in
the text it states “ An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice anywhere”. King is
explaining that he should be in B’Ham because an injustice there could spread. He was
successful because King made everything clear. King wanted to end segregation he
made somewhat happen in B’Ham he spoke up for himself and his community because
of how the African Americans were getting treated.
The purpose for A Genetic Of Justice was to inform audience of hardships faced
by those in the Dominican Republic and persuade her audience to speak up for Justice.
Alvarez advances her purpose by using rhetoric one example is “Perhaps because i
was spread, at ten from the dictatorship my parents endured most of their lives”. This
event advances her purpose by explaining what she was going through when she was
only ten years old. In the text it states “My father and mother were onced trapped in a
police state”. This event advances her purpose by letting the readers know her parents
weren’t living a good life. Alvarez was successful because her mom as her audience
read her book. So her mom herself was speaking up for Justice.

The purpose for Mala was to advocate for Women’s Rights, girls education, free
education all over the world for every child. Mala advances her purpose one example is
“The Taliban shot me… They shot my friend… They thought bullets would silence us”.
She makes her audience feel sorry for her experience. This would show a high level of
determination to reach her purpose. In the text it also states “They continued to inspire
all of us to action”. It made her do what she is doing. She was inspired to speak up for
the rights for education for all children in the community. She wasn’t scared of what had
happen she might of be afraid when it happen, but she still spoke up for what she
wanted to happen. Mala was somewhat successful because she got to do what she
wanted to do. Mala got to speak up for rights of education.
The text that best describes rhetoric would be MLK. The reason why is because
MLK came across his point he wanted to make. Also, because MLK uses everything to
accomplish what he wanted to do for his community he wanted to end segregation
because African Americans weren’t treated equally. All these texts are successful
because they came across the point they all wanted to make. All the texts just wanted
was equal rights or for themselves to speak up for something they want to make happen
for their community. MLK made somewhat happen with the letter he wrote when he was
in jail.
