It is as important for school children to study music, art and sport as it is for them to

Although such topics, in all likelihood, never will yield a consensual agreement, a constructive
dialogue on whether it is important for school children to study music, art and sport can lead to
thought-provoking discussions. My view is that irrespective of the numerous arguments that
exist, studying music, art and sport is as important and beneficial for school children as being
numerate and literate.
There are a number of reasons in favor of my viewpoint. One of them is that being educated
alone without having some talents in arts or music, will not guarantee a career for children in
their future. It is important to note that recruiters who conduct interviews with the projected
employees can differentiate between those who were focusing on their education alone and
those who were balancing between their interests in music and art and their education. For
example, a recent study revealed that the unemployment rate is higher among those who
were depending only on their education and were careless of developing other hobbies and
interests in arts and music.
There are a few aspects of studying art and sport that need special mentioning. Firstly,
children who concentrate only on being educated and neglect practicing sports are more
subjected to physical illness and hence lower grades. It can also be observed that children
who train on swimming or playing football are having better health and grades comparing to
their colleagues who don’t. For instance, children who participate in swimming championships
are enjoying better and balanced life and achieving higher grades comparing to those who
focus on education alone.
In conclusion, I see equally potential evidence that support the arguments I have provided and
hence my opinion is that studying music, art and sport is of paramount value and as salient as
being educated.
