Fellow Graduates, Brothers and Sisters, our celebration today is more than
just a thanksgiving. We stand before the Lord, willing and ready to give our
lives to him in the service of others. In fact, the commissioning of the
graduates take place in this celebration as a petition for blessing that in our
life giving, we too may be living a life of love.
A special duty binds us to make ourselves the neighbor of every person, and
to actively help him when he comes across our path. We want to do exactly
this because in our times, the ideals we hold dear come to very little. And yet
we ask: how can we live a life of love?
This is the challenge that faces us today, the question that only each of us
can answer in our own way. But as we respond to this challenge, we also
pray that God may give us enough strength of purpose to hang on our vision,
to be realistic about what we can achieve now while we work earnestly to
build a world in which people forget about themselves and remember others.
But then again we tell ourselves: there must be something we can do today.
Today, this something finds fulfillment in our expression of love today for one
another.
May the wisdom of God the Father fill our minds. May the love of Christ fill
our hearts. May the inspiration of the Holy Spirit move us to action.
Let us all rise and join us in the singing of the Entrance Hymn.

GOSPEL
his slaves met him and told him that his boy would live.
He asked them when he began to recover.
They told him,
"The fever left him yesterday, about one in the
afternoon."
The father realized that just at that time Jesus had said
to him,
"Your son will live,"
and he and his whole household came to believe.
Now this was the second sign Jesus did
when he came to Galilee from Judea.

2. For all those in position of authority and leadership, that they may not
become arrogant or dishonest or merely seek their own interest, that
they may love the people entrusted to them, we pray to the Lord:
3. For our parents, who have responded and are still responding to God’s
call to bring forth life, may the force of God’s love enable them to carry
on their responsibility of caring their families and nurturing love that
never ends, we pray to the Lord:
4. For our administrators and our teachers, that they may continue to
share their talents and ability in order to build a community according
to God's plan, we pray to the Lord:
5. For the world in which we live, that all people of goodwill may work
together to put an end to war and hatred, oppression and injustice;
and to seek peace, freedom and justice. Let us pray to the Lord:
6. For all of us, graduates, that we may never forget to look back and be
grateful to all who have touched our lives; may the Holy Spirit
enlighten our hearts and minds and guide our endeavors as we embark
on a journey to build the better world, we pray to the Lord:
