occurrence, all possible mechanisms of destruction (ductile or brittle, creep of materials, fatigue of
materials, corrosion cracking) according to the purpose of the equipment and the processes of its
operation.
16. The following conditions are required for maintenance of equipment strength:
a) the value of design pressure shall be not less maximum allowed working pressure for which
the equipment is intended. The value of design pressure considers static pressure and
dynamic loads of the working medium, increase of pressure due to instability of working
media and technological processes. When the equipment consist of several chambers
operating at different values of pressure, design pressure is taken to be either each pressure
value separately, or the pressure which requires larger thickness of the wall of equipment
element being calculated;
b) design temperatures provide safe limits of application of the materials and the equipment;

normal and design temperatures;
b) ultimate tensile strength at normal and design temperatures;
c) long-term strength or creep strength at design temperature and specified number of hours;
d) the characteristic of low-cycle strength or fatigue at specified number of cycles and pressure
level;
e) modulus of elongation (Young modulus) at normal and design temperatures;
f) the values of plastic deformation at the rupture of standard samples;
g) impact strength;
h) fracture toughness (stress intensity factor).
18. Strength calculations are carried out taking into account strength factors of welded connections
which values depend on welded materials, welding (soldering) procedure, connection form, the
method and the extent of non-destructive testing and the processes of equipment operation.
Equipment elements working under external pressure or those exposed to compression stress from
other loads shall be checked for form stability.
19. Equipment strength calculation takes into account forecasted deviations of working parameters in

25
CU 032/2013
RP0,2/t is the minimum value of offset yield strength at 0,2 percent of residual deformation and
maximum allowed temperature;
Rm is the minimum value of ultimate strength at the
R m/10n n
is the average value of long-term strength during 10 hours at maximum allowed
temperature;
R P1/10n
is the average value of 1 percent creep strength during 10n hours at maximum
allowed temperature;
b) For austenitic chrome-nickel steels, aluminum, copper and their alloys:
23. For steel castings, the value of allowed pressure determined by the formulas specified in items 21
and 22 of the present requirements, are multiplied by 0,8 if the casting have passed continuous
non-destructive testing, or by 0,7 if the castings have not passed continuous non-destructive
testing.
24. When there is no data about yield point and long-term strength for aluminum, copper and their
alloys, allowed pressure is determined by the following formula:
R m/t
=
3,5 .
