Brief Introduction of Filmora Video Editor
Filmora Video Editor is popular video editing software for users who haven’t had much experience
in editing videos but want to make professional-looking videos. It provides almost all the video
editing tools: trimming, cropping, splitting, rotating, combing as well as amazing effects: filters,
overlays, motion graphics, transitions, titles, etc. for users to make stunning videos. Lastly, this
video editor allows users to export the result video to any video format users like, share on YouTube,
Facebook, Vimeo or burn to DVDs.

Easy Mode & Full Featured Mode
There are 2 modes in Filmora Video Editor Windows version to create videos. After you launch
Filmora Video Editor, you can see it. First, choose to create the video in 4:3 or in 16:9. Then choose
the mode you’re going to edit your videos with.
Easy Mode: this mode helps you create a story with less editing: import video(s) > select a theme >
choose the background music or import your own song > preview the story > export the story.
Full Feature Mode: all the editing features and effects are all in this mode. If you want to make a
professional video or fantastic video, you’re supposed to try this mode. The following part of this
guide is about how to edit videos in Full Feature Mode.
Specify the section of the video you need to stabilize by dragging the two sliders and click "Apply"
to analyze shakes in the selected video clip.
After that, please click the Play button to compare the video quality before and after the stabilization.
You are able to adjust the smooth level while previewing. Next, click the Save button to make the
stabilization into effect.
Note: please note that after stabilization, a copy of the video will be added to the Media Library
automatically. You’re supposed to use the new copy, dragging and dropping it to the timeline for
further editing.
Sample video: there is 1 sample video for "Countdown". It can be merged to your own videos.
Note: Media Library is only a place to store all your media files, you can’t edit them here. To edit
any of them, please drag and drop it to the timeline and do the editing in the timeline.
How to Create, Save and Open a Project
You might have noticed that after clicking the "Create New Movie", you’ll be led to the main
window of Filmora Video Editor. When editing a video, a project is created automatically. A project
file is not a video. It is a file with extension, .ive. It doesn’t contain the media files, but memorizes
what kind of editing you have applied to the video. You can’t open it with any other media player,
but Filmora Video Editor. The project file can be reopened and edited with Filmora Video Editor
again.
Create a project: when you launch Filmora Video Editor and choose a mode to start, a project is
created. If you want to create a new project with the software being launched, click the third icon at
the upper right of the software > select "New" > select 16:9 or 4:3. After you creating a new project,
the media files you have imported to the Media Library will be deleted. You have to re-import them
again.
Save a Project: click on third icon on the top of in Filmora Video Editor main window, choose
"Save" or "Save As". The option "Save" will save this project to the default folder. If you click
"Save As", then you’re supposed to set up a new destination to save the project.
Open a Project: after launching Filmora Video Editor, you can open an existing project by clicking
the third icon and choose "Open Project" or "Open Recent".
How to Use Scene Detection
To make it easy to edit a large section of a video, you’re supposed to use the "scene detection" for
this software to display the video in timeline according to its scenes. Right-click the video in the
Media Library and select "Scene Detection", then you can see that the video is automatically added
to the timeline scene by scene.
How to Detach and Mute Audio Track and Adjust Its Volume
Detach audio: Right-click on the video in the timeline and select the option "Audio Detach".
Mute video:Right-click on the video in the timeline and select "Mute".
Split or Trim Audio: After you detach the audio, it will be added to timeline automatically. And
then you can move cursor at the begging or end of the audio track to trim it.
Adjust Audio Volume: Double-click on the video in the timeline to enable the Video Inspector
window first > click the Audio tab to switch to the Audio Inspector. From there, you can adjust the
audio volume.
Double-click the the overlayed photo or video in the timeline will enable the pip motion and audio
setting up window.From there, you can set up the movement track and audio for the overlayed photo
or video. There is an "Advanced" button, clicking it you can set up the shape for the overlayed photo
or video.
After adding either a photo or a video to timeline for picture-in-picture effect, you should move the
end or beginning of the image or video to set up its duration. In the preview windows, drag the frame
of the video or image to adjust its size and position.
Power Tool
There are some special effects in Power Tool, including Tilt-shift, Mosaic, and Faceoff. First, click
the Power Tool icon above the timeline in the main window.
1How to Apply Tilt-Shift
Check the "Apply Tilt-Shift to the clip". Now, select the area on the video preview where you want
to apply the tilt-shift and click the "OK" button.
Step 3. In the window, click "Enter Registration Code". After then, copy the registration code from
your email and paste them to the registering window. If registered successfully, a message will tell
you so.
Step 4. Launch Filmora Video Editor again. Click the third icon and select "Open Recent" or "Open
Project" to reopen the project you have saved in step 1 again. And then, click "Export" to export the
video, either for computer, device or share on YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo directly.
