been identified to give boost to entrepreneurship in India.

government of India. Clean India movement is yet another initiative unmatched anywhere in the
world. He helped to spread the message of Swachh Bharat by urging people through his word
and action. The program is a movement against open defection and helps people to build toilets
in joint participation with the government.

and service or the service sector, corers of
employment opportunities have been created
in the last four years.

Bangladesh is building Padma Bridge by its own money. With the help of china.

• She worked for women empowerment. She has been working on this issue from her
very beginning of her government. Now women have selected seat for every
government job. so that they won’t be fall behind. A three-time elected premier,
Sheikh Hasina first drew an extra international focus when the UN honoured her with
its UNESCO Houphouet-Boigny Peace Prize in 1998, a year after Bangladesh saw
the end of a nearly two-decade old insurgency in the southeastern hills in line with the
peace talks with the ethnic rebels.

"Following the footsteps of your father, who dedicated his life to founding a nation,
you in turn have taken that nation along the road of peace and reconciliation . Your
peace-making efforts within your country's borders have been matched by your
dedication to the cause of a global culture of peace," the then UNESCO director
general Federico Mayor told her while handing over the award on September 24,
1999.

• Sheikh Hasina gave shelter almost 70,000 Rohinga with their basic needs and a safe

INDIA also denied helping them.

• Women in Parliament (WIP) and UNIESCO awarded her with the ‘WIP Global
Forum Award’ for her leading role in reducing gender gap in political sphere in South

headquarters in New York with UN
Secretary General António
Guterres in the chair.Her second
recommendation is Myanmar must
create conducive environment by

citizenship for all Rohingyas.

Make in India /Startup India:
The Modi government had promised to make India a global manufacturing hub catering to both
the export and domestic markets. The government followed through on this promise by
launching its flagship ‘Make in India’ program in a bid to significantly boost local manufacturing
and creating a new skills development ministry to provide vocational training to unskilled youth.
It also launched a much-hyped ‘Startup India’ program with the ostensible goal of making India
the startup capital of the world, just like Israel. But none of these initiatives seem to have gone
very far. In fact, how dismally India has done in export terms is borne out by the fact that the
country’s trade deficit with China remains skewed in the latter’s favors by a ratio of four to one.
According to a status report on the Startup India website, only 74 startups had been identified to
receive tax benefits as of January first week.
Black money:
On 8 November 2016, Modi banned the use of
high-value notes, sucking 86% of the currency
in circulation in one swoop, with the ostensible
aim of delivering a body blow to black money
hoarders. But the government had perhaps not
factored in the fabled Indian ingenuity to
subvert the system. So, while the government
had hoped that as much as a third of India’s
unaccounted wealth would go out of the system,
in the end, nearly all the currency found its way back, riding pillion on hundreds of thousands of
poor Indians who acted as mules, for a cut, filling up their hereto dormant Jan Dhan accounts, or
simply exchanged cash over the counter. The move brought the country’s informal economy to a
standstill and dented growth.
Swaach Bharat Abhiyan/ clean India:
It is yet another initiative unmatched
anywhere in the world? The program is a
movement against open defecation and helps
people build toilets in joint participation with
the government. As of April 2018, 46,36,128
individual toilets and 306,064 community and
public toilets, have been constructed across
the country.
Road construction:
Recent data released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways indicates that the
Narendra Modi government has built 73% more highways in its first four years in office as
compared to the last four years of the former UPA government. This is a momentous
achievement which the NDA government can, in the run-up to the 2019 general elections, not
just look up to, but possibly even take advantage of to remain in office. So far, the incumbent
government has constructed a total of 28,531 km national highways since FY 2014-15,
contrasting with 16,505 km by the previous government up to FY 2013-14, a clear gain of an
astounding 12,026 kms, the Financial Express reported. The implementation of the construction
projects is done through the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) route. Under
EPC, the government invites bids from companies which have expertise in engineering and
construction. Once a successful bid has been placed, the government hands over the contract to
the company and provides 100% funding. The company is then accountable for every single
aspect of the project, viz. procuring materials, labor, implementation, maintenance, etc. Over the
last few years, under the NDA government, construction of national highways has steadily
increased. Until May 2014, the construction rate of highways stood at 11.67 km per day. The
current regime has steadily raised the construction rate to the present 26.9 km per day in FY
2017-18. In FY 2017-18, the government built 9,829 km; 8,231 km in FY 2016-17; 6,061 km in
FY 2015-16; and 4,410 km in FY 2014-15. For FY 2018-19, the MoRTH is set out to achieve a
target of 45 km per day.
Goods and Services Tax:
Although the landmark legislation that overhauled the country’s indirect tax regime had been in
the works for more than a decade and a half, the Modi government does deserve credit for
getting the GST implemented in July 2017. However, the GST was not without its controversies
that stretched India’s federal fabric to the hilt, resulting in strained center-state relations at
various junctures. Moreover, what finally emerged was a complex multi-slab system instead of
the one tax regime it was initially envisaged to be, even as key commodities like fuel and liquor
remain outside the ambit of the GST. Further, owing to implementation glitches, tax numbers
took a hit, at least in the initial few months following the GST rollout. Yet, the implementation
of the GST did alter the country’s indirect tax regime for good.

Employment:
In 2014, during its election campaign, the
government had promised to create 10
million jobs a year. Instead, it ended up
creating less than a million in the four
years it has been in power. In the 2018
budget, the government was widely
expected to announce a National
Employment Policy, which would lay a
comprehensive roadmap for job creation, but that did not happen. The government could usher in
such a policy now to focus on employment-intensive sectors, especially in the small and medium
enterprises space.
