DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY MEDICINE AND PUBLIC HEALTH POSITION: LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST (1 POST) QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Biomedical Laboratory Technology qualification * Knowledge in working in multidisciplinary research laboratory dealing with isolation and characterization of infectious microorganisms. * Knowledge in safely storing and transporting biological samples, including knowledge of maintaining a liquid nitrogen-based cold chainAbility to organize sample collection and appropriate storage Familiarity with molecular virology techniques will be added advantage Ability to initiate work independently and be able to work as part of a team Good communicator (orally and written, both English and Kiswahili) with strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities Computer literate, with experience in writing reports and using the internet DUTIES & RESPOSIBILITIES: AGE: Conduct laboratory analysis on infectious disease samples (culture and characterization) Enter data on sample submission and test results Liaise with project leader, project scientists and postgraduate students on collection of samples and laboratory procedures for isolation Characterization of agents of interest to GIP Project Not above 35 years Duration: Two years contract renewable upon impressive performance Duty Station: Morogoro Region Salary: An attractive salary based on SUA salary scales with adjustment as offered by the project dependent upon qualifications.
