The following formal objection was written as a part of an early 2019 consultation opened

by Mid Devon Council into the potential felling of a mature Oak Tree sp. adjacent to
Pedlarspool Lane, Crediton, Devon.

I am writing to you regarding the current consultation into the felling of a Holm Oak tree at
Pedlarspool, Crediton (ref no 18/01966). I wish to notify you of my objection to this
proposal on the grounds that the area in question is already in severe danger of losing
vast amounts of its biodiversity from the proposed and/or now approved housing
developments there, which are certain to disturb all kinds of wildlife that reside or feed on
the valley hills and floodplain. Any further unnecessary destruction of said habitat would be
deeply unjust to the local ecosystem in question and sure to severely harm the area's rich
biodiversity. Mature trees such as the one in question, even when dead and decaying,
provide homes and even breeding sites for a myriad of bird and invertebrate species and
thus should be cherished, not disposed of or needlessly deconstructed. It would be a
terrible and deeply troubling shame if such a decision was to be taken.
Yours sincerely
