CHILLER RANGE

The Hitachi “Samurai Range” is available in capacity ranges between 100 kW and 1100 kW and is manufactured and tested at the state of
the art production facility, HAPE, near Barcelona, Spain. Hitachi has undertaken significant investment in further production capacity at the
factory and have also installed and commissioned a chiller performance test facility, together with all load generating ancillaries and PC
based measurement, recording and reporting capabilities.

LOW SOUND LEVEL AND VIBRATION

The Samurai Chillers operate at very low sound and vibration levels, due to the
precise machining and meticulous assembly methods employed in their construction.
The compressors are installed on rubber anti-vibration mountings in a separate
enclosure. Additionally low noise 8 pole fans and extra acoustic insulation can be
specified if required.

CONTINUOUS CAPACITY CONTROL

The continuous Capacity control system uses advanced electronic controls to
position the infinitely variable slide valve within each compressor. This modulation
allows exact load control and accurate chilled water temperature without the need
for expensive inverters.

ENERGY SAVING
Due to continuous capacity control, 15-20% energy saving is possible compared
with current step control systems this is because: The cooling load can be more
closely matched allowing highly efficient part load performance and eliminating
frequent compressor stop starts.

LOW STARTING CURRENT

All compressors include star delta starting method as standard in order to
keep the starting current to a minimum. In addition the compressors are started
sequentially (beginning with the compressor with the lowest run hours) at their
minimum loading – 25%

PRECISE TEMPERATURE CONTROL

The combination of Hitachi’s continuous capacity compressor and unique
electronic controls enable the chiller to control outlet water temperature precisely
and independently of cooling load. This control is of benefit for both air conditioning
and industrial process applications.

COMPACT FOOTPRINT
The Samurai Chiller achieves one of the smallest footprints in its class by
utilising plate heat exchangers and Hitachi’s patented slit fin heat exchangers.

BMS INTEGRATION
The Samurai is able to communicate with BMS systems through the Lonworks
open protocol via a HARC70C interface.

OUTDOOR UNITS: RCUE80AG, equipped with 240HP compressors

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Hitachi Samurai chillers were selected as being identified as being totally suited to the job requirements. Reliability is vital
in this line of business; having to execute an emergency stop on a production in process can be a real disaster, not in the least
regarding the clear-up operation necessary before restarting the line.

Furthermore, the heat loads in these kinds of process can vary enormously and heat load can rise extremely quickly, the process
temperature must be precisely maintained and thus the chilled water temperature is very important in order to maintain the highest
possible quality standards of the final product.

The fully modulating capacity control on all HITACHI Twin Screw compressors together with the special HITACHI microprocessor
controls exceed these requirements.
