SEL Compass Options:

Once you have successfully installed SEL Compass the first window that will open is the SEL Compass
Options window. In this window you will be able to setup how SEL Compass will check for updates, where
documents will be stored to, where to check for updates from, and if you want to save the installer files for
applications.
Update Source Location:

The Update Source Location option tells SEL Compass where to receive updates from. You have the
option to either update from the SEL Website or to use the Other option where you can direct SEL
Compass to update from a particular packages folder on your local drive or from a Network location for
users that want more control over what updates are to be used.
Update Frequency:

The Update Frequency option allows you to control when SEL Compass looks for updates. If you are
using a local or network location for your update packages, the Update Frequency will also check these
locations for updated files. Once you enable the Update Notifications you can set the frequency, time, and
day that SEL Compass will search for updates.
File Destinations:

The File Destinations option allow you to designate where each of the downloaded documents are stored.
To change the document destinations you click on the directory that you would like to change and browse
to the new folder using the button that appears.
File Management:

This option allows you to save the Install and Driver files from the applications to a local directory. This is
useful when you do not have Internet connection, but have connection to a Local Network. You can set
up one PC that does have Internet connection to download all Updates from SEL Compass, and then
have all of the other PC's connect to the directory on that PC to pull all of the updates that have been
downloaded.
Proxy Settings:

This option allows you to enter in Proxy settings if you are behind a Firewall. Obtain the Proxy information
from you IT personnel and this will allow you to use the SEL Website option from the Update Source
Location options to obtain new software or updates for your installed products.
SEL Compass Welcome Page:

The SEL Compass Welcome page is the first navigational window that you come to after the install and
after you setup the SEL Compass Options. From here you can browse for Applications and Documents
using the four different selections:

Solutions:

The Solutions view organizes all SEL solutions for you, so information is just a click away on your
computer.

Products:

Maintain a comprehensive list of SEL Products, plus group and organize the products most important to
you.

Literature:

Synchronize and maintain all of you SEL documentation using SEL Compass.

Updates:

SEL Compass automatically keeps track of updates to SEL software, literature, and solutions to keep you
up to date.
Solutions View:

The Solutions view allows you to browse for applications and documents by the different solution
categories. You can browse by Literature or by Product Solutions.
Products View:

If you know what products that you have or need, you can choose to browse for downloads by Products.
This view allows you to select your product and shows you all of the available options for downloading
and updating.
Literature View:

If you are just looking for Literature about your product you can search for documents using the Literature
view. In this view you can search for Application Handbooks, Data Sheets, Flyers, or Instruction Manuals
that relate to your product.
Updates View:

The Updates View allows you to see if any of the software that you have currently installed has updates
available. When you have an update that is available it will be listed in the window with the information
about the update.
Remove View:

The Remove View allows you to remove installed software and documents that are no longer needed.
This view will also tell you what applications and documents you currently have installed through SEL
Compass.
Selected View:

This view shows all of the applications and documents that currently are selected and will be updated or
installed.
