Installing AGU Third Edition

The installation of AGU Third Edition consists of two separate components:
 the AGU Third Edition content
 the AGU Third Edition application
We strongly recommend that you install these components to the folders suggested during
the installation process (default locations).

Windows XP, Vista and 7 users

You need to have administrator rights on your computer to complete the installation. On
most computers, the installation will start automatically when you place the disc into the CD-
ROM drive. If it does not:
1. Open the Start menu and click on My Computer, or double-click on the My Computer
icon on the desktop.
2. Double-click on the CD-ROM icon.
3. Double-click on the AGUThirdEdition.exe file and follow the onscreen instructions.

Windows 8 users
You need to have administrator rights on your computer to complete the installation. On
most computers, the installation will start automatically when you place the disc into the CD-
ROM drive, however if you have not changed the compatibility mode of the AGU software
beforehand, the installation will not complete successfully. To change the compatibility
mode:
1. Open the Desktop app, then open the Start menu and click on My Computer.
2. Right-click on the CD-ROM icon (AGU) and choose ‘Open’.
3. Right-click on the ‘AGUThirdEdition’ icon and select ‘Properties’.
4. Go to the second tab ‘Compatibility’, and tick the check-box underneath ‘Compatibility
Mode’.
5. Select ‘Windows 7’ from the drop-down box underneath the check-box
6. Select ‘OK’ to save these settings, and then launch the software using the
‘AGUThirdEdition’ icon.

Mac users
1. Insert the disc into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Double-click the AGU Third Edition CD-ROM icon on your desktop to open it.
3. Double-click the AGU Third Edition application icon and follow the onscreen instructions.

Installing AGU Third Edition to non-default locations

If you wish to install the AGU Third Edition components to different locations, you must make
sure that:
a) choose a different location for the AGU Third Edition 'application' (the second
component installed) from the folder that you chose for the AGU Third Edition
'content' (the first component installed). The AGU Third Edition application folder
cannot be in located within the AGU Third Edition content folder!
b) remember where you installed AGU Third Edition application and AGU Third
Edition content, as you will be asked to navigate to these folders every time you
use AGU Third Edition (see the image on the next page).

Uninstalling AGU Third Edition from your computer

The installation of AGU Third Edition consists of two parts:

 the AGU Third Edition content
 the AGU Third Edition application

To completely uninstall the AGU Third Edition software, you must uninstall both parts by
following the steps below:

Windows users
1. Close AGU Third Edition if you are running it.
2. From the Start menu, open the Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and then
Programs and Features (Windows Vista and 7);
4. Find AGU Third Edition application in the products list and click it to highlight it.
5. Click Remove (Windows XP) or Uninstall (Windows Vista and 7). The AGU Third
Edition application is removed.
6. Next, click on AGU Third Edition content to highlight it, click Change/Remove
(Windows XP) or Uninstall (Windows Vista and 7) and follow the onscreen instructions.

Mac users
1. Close AGU Third Edition if you are running it.
2. In your Mac's Applications folder, navigate to the following folder: Cambridge /
CambridgeContent / Uninstall_AGU Third Edition content.
3. Open the Uninstall_AGU Third Edition content folder, double-click the file called
Uninstall AGU Third Edition content, then follow the onscreen instructions.
4. Once the uninstallation procedure has finished, go back to the Cambridge folder. In
this folder, find the AGU Third Edition application icon. Drag this icon into the Trash to
complete the AGU Third Edition uninstallation.

Note: You will need to manually remove the file User instructions from your system if it is no
longer needed. The User instructions file is located where the AGU Third Edition content was
copied during installation (For example, if you chose the default location, then User
instructions will be in C:\Program Files\Cambridge\CambridgeContent).
