Intervention Program to Improve National Achievement Test in

I. Introduction:
The performance of a school in the National Achievement Test and School Achievement Test may
be one of the indications that a school ranks high or low compared to other schools in the division,
region or in the entire nation. The results of the said achievement tests may also denote the princi-
pal’s and teachers’ competence and significance in preparing the learners in the next educational
ladder and later in building the nation.
Exceptional performance represents commendable results. Poor performance may signify inferior
learning outcomes. However, these evaluations are not mere indicators of what or who reigns
supreme in the educational race. They also serve as bases on how a school performs above or be-
low the standards set by the Department of Education. Then again, it is also good to note that a
school maintains or raises its evaluation and performance levels for the benefit of the pupils/ stu-
dents.
II. Objective:
Increase achievement level of students in all learning areas through extensive remediation vis -a-vis
increasing the competence of teachers through related trainings; and strengthen the partnership with
education stakeholders.

III. Intervention Programs
A. Project REAPER This school year 2015 – 2016, Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Integrated School intro-
duces Project REAPER. As the name implies, NSDPIS adheres to its mark of reaping the fruits of its
labor. REAPER or Raise Evaluation and Achievement Performance thru Extensive Remediation is
NSDPIS’answer to increase its performance and achievement levels. Its main motto is through ex-
tensive remediation. Indeed, massive remediation should be undertaken to address all the learning
constraints of every Pilarian. Once this development becomes successful, every child at NSDPIS is
a reaper. b. Project PAPER- Proper Activities to Produce Excellent Readers Reading is a decoding
process. Understanding the decoded symbols or words leads to comprehension. Hence, reading can
be a form of evaluation to determine whether a learner has the propensity to learn other disciplines.
Logically, one must know how to read before he can understand other learning areas.

share in implementing the ECARP. It initiated the implementation of project “PAPER – Proper Activi-
ties to Produce Excellent Readers”. The project intends to diagnose the reading difficulty and im-
prove the reading levels of the pupils/ students by employing only the appropriate activities. We at
NSDPIS believe that providing unnecessary activities for children is misleading. Rigid supervision
and remedial instructions are also beneficial in the attainment of the goals of the project. At the end
of the day, a child is not only a mere reader but an excellent one.
C. Project ADDENDS- Advanced Development to Diminish Everyone’s Numerical Deficiency and
ShortfallAddends are the numbers being added to get the total or sum. In its quest to decrease the
number of students with mathematical difficulty, Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Integrated School came
up with a project called ADDENDS. This may sound ironic since its goal is to lessen the number of
pupils with difficulty in numbers yet the project title ADDENDS. ADDENDS or the Advanced Devel-
opment to Diminish Everyone’s Numerical Deficiency and Shortfall is truly a manifestation of
NSDPIS’advocacy to decrease the pupils with number waterloo d. Project ENERGY- Enrich and
Nourish Everyone while Rearing Growing Youth. Energy is synonymous to power or vigor. To ener-
gize is to invigorate or to rejuvenate. In the classroom setting, students should be energized by moti-
vational activities so their minds will be invigorated. However, our mental faculties work well if our
body is nourished with proper nutrients. Scientifically speaking, part of the digested food flows
through the different systems of our body. Hence, our nourished mind works well if proper food in-
take is done. Indeed the adage, “One cannot think if his stomach is empty” is undeniably true.

properly nourished, a condition so they can easily think and grasp every concept presented by the
teachers. In this regard, ENERGY was tasked to provide students with sufficient nourishment and
enrichment through feeding programs sponsored by the school, DepEd and NGO’s. Incontrovertibly,
we at NSDPIS are enriching and nourishing our pupils/ students at the same time, we are educating
them.
E. Project TEACHERS -Training Educators to Achieve Competence and Healthy Experiences for
Responsible Schooling
Education is indeed a lifelong process. Each of us is continually learning. What we know now may
be obsolete in the next few years. Hence, we should always be on the lookout for what is new and
inventive.
A teacher learns every day in his mingling with different learners with individual differences. Even the
methodologies applied in the classroom also vary from every pupil and from each class. Moreover,
with the innovations and advancements in technology, the techniques and methods that were effec-
tively used before, may not necessarily effectual to the type of learners today, particularly those who
were exposed to different media. Therefore, a teacher should always have something in his sleeves.
Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Integrated School anticipates this occurrence. The principal is perceptive
to the training needs of her teachers. For this reason, Project “TEACHERS” is unleashed. This
project is an acronym spelled out as “Training Educators to Achieve Competence and Healthy Expe-
riences for Responsible Schooling.” This plan consists of proposed activities, seminars, trainings,
workshops and symposia relative to the enhancement of teachers’techniques and methodologies as
determined by the Training Needs and Assessment (TNA). The beneficial experiences of the teach-
ers from these endeavors will inevitably instill in them proficiency and know-how to become prolific
and responsible teachers as they exercise their vocation. If teachers are well equipped with new
trends in teaching, 101% the students and the school will benefit from it.
