Project Description: Setting up of Inspection Department

Key accomplishments:
 Developed Inspection department macro flowchart, defined scope, objectives and responsibilities. Agreed
upon at TSM level the starting organization of the department.
 Studied at site construction details of H-4001 (Hydrogen Production Unit) and H-3001/3002 (Hydro-cracker
unit) radiant sections, Inlet/ Outlet headers and pigtails. Carried out base diameter measurements of HPU
furnace tubes for creep monitoring.
 Reviewed PFD & P&ID’s of existing Visbreaker unit 200 and listed out the process lines. Marked critical
spots on process lines for on-stream field measurements.
 Reviewed various UT thickness meters with budgetary quotes and ordered 3 meters to enable start field
measurements for baseline data.
 Reviewed datasheets and drawings of static equipment of VDU Unit 160 and marked up thickness
measuring points for collecting baseline data.
 Developed a welders database to keep qualification and weld rejection history of local welders. Data input
pending
 3 days training (Reliability) of Avin, 2 days training (Leadership) of Cox Murugesan
 Secured a shared drive for Inspection department and started organizing department documents.
 Compiled and installed in shared drives all available API, ASME, ASM, Shell DEP, UOP, ANSI standards
 RBI software – discussed with Naresh & Regilio to two licensed versions for A.Murugesan An Avin. Will be
analyzed if Pau’s data can be installed in Orbit. If OK, then license will be prolonged
 IDP meeting #2 completed.
 Visual inspection of the off plot pipe tracks (section 700 & 800) was carried out and minor repairs required
are identified.
 Reviewed the corrosion loops of unit 160 VDU developed Pau and issued comments.

Upcoming tasks for this period:

 Complete micro-flow charts of Inspection function and develop detailed work processes of the department.
 Review Orbit software and determine data format for direct export of data from Infor/ Excel to Orbit.
 List out and document all Codes and Standards that will be used by the Inspection department and initiate
action to procure them.
 Initiate actions to fill up the two vacancies in the department.
 Compile baseline data for new project equipment and piping.
 Discuss and agree or disagree with WB/ WG use of piping software developed by AM in Staatsolie.
