quarter of the school year! Where does the
time go?! Please read over the newsletter
carefully and if you have any questions
please let me know!

These survey links should have been sent to
your email. Please take the time to fill these
out. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Report Cards:
Report cards for Q3 will be going home this
Friday, April 5.
Specials:
Our specials for the 4th quarter has been sent
out and updated on our classroom website.
Binders:
Please do not forget to check your child’s
binder. Please make sure to initial their daily
behavior log, take out all papers sent home
on Fridays and check and initial their
assessments. These are recorded periodically
and placed in their notebook to keep you
updated on their academic progress. As a
reminder, assessments should never be
removed from their binders.
Snack:
Please make sure to send your child with a
small snack each day.

What are we learning?
Reading:
I can retell stories, including key details, and demonstrates understanding of their
central message or lesson.
I can identify who is telling the story at various points in a text.
I can distinguish between information provided by pictures and information
provided by the words in a text.
Writing:
I can write pinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or name the book they
are writing about, state an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion, and provide
some sense of closure.
I can write informative/explanatory texts in which they name a topic, supply some
facts about the topic, and provide some sense of closure.
I can write narratives in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced
events, include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to
signal event order, and provide some sense of closure.
Math:
Distinguish between defining and non-defining attributes and create shapes with
defining attributes by:
- Building and drawing triangles, rectangles, squares, trapezoids, hexagons, circles.
- Building cubes, rectangular prisms, cones, spheres, and cylinders
Create composite shapes by:
-Making a two-dimensional composite shape using rectangles, squares, trapezoids,
triangles, and half-circles naming the components of the new shape.
Making a three-dimensional composite shape using cubes, rectangular prisms,
cones, and cylinders naming the components of the new shape.
I can tell and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks.
