CAR PARK VENTILATION SYSTEM

If there is no possibility for natural cross ventilation in basement car park, forced ventilation
system will be provided. Enclosed shafts shall be provided for makeup and exhaust air. Make
up air and exhaust air shall be drawn & discharged via louvers located above the ground floor
level.
The proposed solution is to install fire rated exhaust fans and makeup air fans. Make up air
will be approximately 90% of extract air in order to keep the fire zone under negative
pressure.
As defined in National Building Code of India, Mechanical ventilation for Car Parking in

basements shall be designed to permit 6-8 ACPH for Normal ventilation and 12 ACPH in case

of fire or distress call.

These fans are located at basement The fan will be switched On/Off by the controller.

1. Car park at basement will be provided with exhaust fans of Centrifugal / Axial

type at the fan room & from the car park area it shall be Jet Fans. Exhaust air

capacity shall be minimum 12 ACPH during fire mode and minimum 6-8 ACPH

during normal operating hours.

2. Fresh air shall be drawn from outside thru ramp entrance openings / sky lights.

Ducted supply (if required) from ramps opening will also be provided in order

to distribute supply air to the parking area.

- During normal operation, all fresh air fans will operate continuously (if

applicable).

- During normal operation, Exhaust fans corresponding to 6-8 ACPH will be

operated and the other exhaust fans will be operated based on signal from

fire panel / CO Sensor from IBMS System.

- During fire condition, all exhaust fans will be switched ON.

Circulation fans (Jet fans) will be provided throughout the parking area to aid the air
circulation and air movement. Carbon monoxide (CO) sensors will be proposed that will
control operation of these jet fans and thereby save energy. Number of jet fans and location
will be validated based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis during detail design
stage.
