1. Foreword (simulating objects)

Suppose that there is a 22-storied ABC Hotel has 400 guest room, 5 presidential suits, 2 common gym rooms and ball
rooms, 8 office rooms, and the hotel has 400 employees, now a Be-Tech lock has been installed on each door of the
hotel building, make sure that the batteries can supply power normally and all wirings on the circuits boards are
correctly connected.

2. Simulation examples

2.1. System installation

Preparation before installation

Personnel: 1 person from the computer department; 1 front office manager; 2 vice-front office managers; 1 guest room
department manager; 3 front desk clerks (1 for each shift); 1 front from the engineering department;

Equipment: 2 sets of MSR-100 or MUR-100 card readers, 600 pieces of initialized Mifare 1 S50 cards;

10 pieces of initialized Mifare 1 S70 cards;

Requirement for computer (table top type) configuration: (Hotel computer support is needed)

Make sure that there is no computer virus in your computer before installing the door lock software.

Microsoft Access, or MS SQL SERVER 2000 or 7.0 or MSDE are used in the background database (users should
purchase the genuine themselves)

Assistant lists: Label stickers; project reception report; hotel room number list; front office operator list (support of
front office manger is needed);

Floor servant list, unlocking scope, application time (support from guest room manger is needed);

2.1.1 Software installation

(Personnel of the computer department should be on site)

2.1.1.1 System installation procedures

Definition------Single computer card issuing: The door locks use only one computer to issue cards.

-------Multi-point card issuing: It is possible that many guests wait to check in at the front office at the same
time, you can use the multi-point card-issuing function of the software according to the scale of your hotel to quickly
issue card to many guests in a short time, you are suggested to use this function if your hotel has more than 200
rooms.

For single computer card issuing, please select 1.2.3——>1.2.3.6, install the software as shown in diagram 7
——> to 1.2.3.8——>1.2.4.2, select diagram B1

For multi-point card issuing, please select 1.2.3——>1.2.3.6, install the software as shown in diagram 8 ——>
to 1.2.3.8——>1.2.4.2, select diagram B2

2.1.1.2 Installing the door lock management system software

Open the installation CD, double click the icon , an interface as shown in diagram 1 appears, press
¡°Next to continue.

Select the language to be used in the installation. An interface as shown in diagram 2 appears.

2.1.3 Card reader installation

(This system is suitable for MSR-100 or MUR-100 card readers)

(1) MSR-100 card reader installation method: Generally, the default connection port of the software to the device is
COM1, so make sure to connect the 9-pin data line connector of the card reader with COM1 of the computer, and then
insert the power plug of the card reader to complete the installation.

(2)MUR-100 card reader installation method: The card reader will communicate with the USB port, so please make
sure to connect the USB port of the card reader with the USB port of the computer, so as to ensure that the card reader
can be used normally. Following is the method for installing the driver of the MUR-100 card reader (as shown in the
following diagram):

7, 8, 9 Select the installation path for the lock software, the default path is “C:\Porgram Files\Be-Tech\BT
ock5.7\drivers\MUR-100\Win2000_XP”

2.1.4 Handset installation

① Connect the handset with the PC;

② Press "*” key to turn on the handset, press “Confirm” key and input the logon password, the default logon
password is “123456”,then press “Confirm” key again, select “Communicate with PC” from the function menu,
and start to install the handset driver.

③ While the “Waiting for communication...” signal is displayed on the handset, a “Found New Hardware Wizard”
window (as shown in diagram 2.6.1) pops up on the PC screen, select “No, not for the moment( T)”, click
“Next(N)>” key to enter the next step;

④ In the window popped up, select the item "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)(S)" (as shown in
diagram 2.6.2), click “Next(N)>” key to enter the next step;

⑤ In the window popped up, select "Search for the best driver (S)" item (as shown in diagram 2.6.3), check the item
"Include this location in the search (O)", click “Browse” key, in the window popped up, select the folder that
contains the driver for your hardware (i.e. the folder named “Handset Driver” in the folder named “Drivers”
under the door lock installation directory) (as shown in diagram 2.6.4), press “Confirm” key to return back to the
installation interface, click “Next(N)>” key to enter the next step;

⑥ Click “Finish” key, close the “Found New Hardware Wizard” window (as shown in diagram 2.6.5); thus the
installation of the handset driver is completed.

Note: This driver is only suitable for Win2000/XP operating systems.

2.1.5 Run the software

Display Language options: (It only needs to select once)

When you run the software for the first time, it is necessary to select the display language of the
software (as shown in diagram A), there are two languages, i.e. simplified Chinese and English, for you
to select.

Note: The language selected at this step will directly affect display language of the software, so please select the
language carefully, it is suggested to select the language that is used by your operating system. Otherwise, the text
displayed may become clobber when the software is running.

2.2 System setup

2.2.1 Basic settings

Double click the icon to enter the door lock management. Directly press to log in the
software.

Note: The operator code and the login password are blank in default, and the operator owns all the operation
rights to the software system.

2.2.1.1 Set the card reader

The purpose of setting this item is to ensure normal operation of the card reader (It only needs to set
once)

MSR-100 users: Select card reader in the above diagram, and then click to complete the
installation of the card reader.

MSU-100 users: Select card reader in the above diagram, and make sure that the driver in 1.3 has been
installed,

At last, click to complete the installation of the card reader

2.2.1.2 Customer options:

Definitions: Day start time - For guests who check in after four o'clock in the morning, their stay time will be not be
counted as one whole day if they leave the hotel on the same day, but their stay time will not be counted as one whole
day if their stay lasts to the twelve o'clock of the next day. four o'clock is the day start time

Check out time - the default value is twelve o'clock, guests should renew their check-in procedures before twelve
o'clock; otherwise, their overdue guest cards will be unable to open the doors.

Journal number ---- Each guest card has a journal number, the journal number of each guest card must
be larger than that of the any previously issued ones, and an old guest card would refuse to open the lock
if its journal number is smaller than that of a new guest card.

Setting method for single-computer card issuing

Setting method for multi-point card issuing

ABC Hotel stipulates that if a guest checks in after 4:00 in the morning and leaves on the same day, his
stay in the hotel is not counted as a whole day; the check out time is 12:00 at noon to provide more time
for guests to tidy up their luggage.

2.2.3 Establish staff information

Obtain the name lists of the administration department, guest room department, and the front office

The staffs are basically divided into 5 categories, Class A ---- only operate door lock software, have no unlocking
cards. Front hall savants (operators)
Class B ---- Have unlocking cards, not authorized to operate the door lock software
Floor servants, engineering department; employees of the sales department, administration department and
computer department; the security department manager

Class C ---- Have unlocking cards, authorized to operate the door lock software
Guest room manager and vice-manger, from office manager and vice-manger, and computer department
manager

Class D ---- Have no unlocking cards, not authorized to operate the door lock software
Luggage helpers, guards

Class E ----- Guest room director general, general manager, guest

2.2.3.2 Front desk clerks

2.3. Definition of each card
key

2.3.1 Definitions:

This card is to prevent the same lock system used by different hotels from opening
each other's locks. Users of this card can define their own password marks

It passes such information as lock numbers, allocated EMS memory, and electric drive etc to the

lock from the computer.

This is a function card used to temporarily terminate or restore the unlocking rights of all the

unlocking cards.

Passes such information as computer time and unlocking time section to the lock and activate the

clock chip in the lock to jump the time automatically.

Passes the authorized unlocking scope of the staff card to the door lock

It passes the information of the lost unlocking card from the computer to the door lock, so that the

lost card can no longer open the lock.

It passes such information as unlocking records, time in the lock, current effective unlocking card

etc to the computer from the locks for query.

It is a unlocking card with the highest unlocking permission without any limit in lock codes, time

scope or quantity of locks

This is a unlocking card that can open locks within the limited time and limited number of locks to

be opened

After enabled by an unlocking card with enabling function, the temporary card can open the lock

within the appointed days.

This is the key of the guest room provided to the guest

It is used to terminate the unlocking right of a guest card before its expiration when the guest check

out ahead of planned time.

2.3.3.4 Loss report cards and room locking cards

Loss report cards: Issue loss report cards to report the blacklist. After the menu pops up, click the loss
report card attribute window (as shown in diagram 2.54.1), firstly click the query condition, the system
will pop up a list refresh condition editor attribute window (as shown in diagram 2.54.2), we can see in
the diagram that there are seven refresh condition fields: card type, card No., door lock code (ID), card
holder’s name, start time, terminating time, and card issuing time.

Query by card type: Click button, the system will pop up a condition editor properties window (as shown in
diagram 2.54.3), you can tick the check box in front of a card type to by that card type as the query condition, click
“confirm” to return to the list refresh condition editor properties window, you can tick the small check box in front of
the all cards types to use all card types as query conditions, at last, click “confirm” to see the query result.

Query by function card No. is similar to query by member No. for member management; please refer to the query by
member No. for member management for detail, and it will not be repeated here;

Query by door ID: This is similar to query by member code for member management, please refer to the query by
member code for member management for detail, which will not be repeated here;

Query by card holder name: This is similar to query by member name for member management; please refer to the
query by name number for member management for detail, which will not be repeated here;

Query by card-making time: Click button, the system will pop up a condition editor attribute window (as shown

in diagram 2.54.4), if you only tick the small check box in front of the start time and input the time
deviation value in the time deviation value field, the start time will be taken as the query condition on the
basis of the time deviation value, for example, if you select 2005-3-25 as the start time in the start time
field and input 10 in the time deviation value field, the time range of the query will be from 2005-3-25 to
2005-4-4; if you only tick the small check box in front of the end time and input the time deviation value
in the time deviation value field, the end time will be taken as the query condition on the basis of the time
deviation value, for example, if you select 2005-3-26 as the end time in the end time field and input 10 in
the time deviation value item, the time range of the query will be from 2005-3-26 to 2005-3-16; if you
tick the small check boxes both in front of the start time and in front of the end time, both the start time
and the end time will be taken as the query conditions, for example, if you select 2005-3-25 as the start
time in the start time field and 2005-3-26 as the end time in the end time field, the time range of the
query will be from 2005-3-25 to 2005-3-26; click “confirm” to return to the list refreshing condition
editor window, tick the small check box in front of the effective time, the effective time is selected as the
query condition, at last, click “confirm” to see the corresponding query result.

Query by start time is similar to query by “Issued time” in this window, please refer to the item of query by “Issued
time” in this window for detail, which will not be repeated here;

Query by end time is similar to query by “issued time” in this window, please refer to the item of query by “issued

You can see the desired query result after inputting the corresponding information (as shown in diagram 2.54.1), you
can also click “>” to add one loss report card or click “>>” to add all loss report cards into the blacklist at the right side
of the loss-report card attribute box, click the “Issue” button, the system will pop up a loss-report card issuing dialog
box (as shown in diagram 2.54.5), and then click “confirm” to issue cards.

2.3.3.6 Summary cards and door locking cards

Summary cards: After the menu pops up, click the summary card item, a summary card properties
window (as shown in diagram 2.55) pops up, we can see 6 property select fields in the diagram, click
different property select fields to view different summary massages in the 6 summarized information
fileds, including basic door lock information (as shown in diagram 2.55) , work time sections (as shown
in diagram 2.56), blacklist record (as shown in diagram 2.57), temporary cards (as shown in diagram
2.58), staff cards (as shown in diagram 2.59), access records (as shown in diagram 2.60); you can also
select error data filtering items to filter out error data; the "Issue" button can be used to issue summary
cards and summarize the door lock information, "Summary" button is used to summarize the door lock
information using the card issuer through the software, which can be used to issue 3 kinds of card, i.e.,
class A cards, class B cards, and class C cards. You can issue summary cards following the indications
given by the software.

Use 412 guest cards to open the corresponding door locks, the green lamp glows to show normal status.

Verification

Scan the authorizing card on the lock, the green lamp glows, then used a floor servant card to the open the lock, it is
normal if the lock can be opened.

2.3.3.6 Others cards

Reset card: The software will write a reset card to reset the guest journal No. of the door lock (as shown in diagram 2.
48.1).

Database backup: Used to back up the current data, click “backup database” item (as shown in diagram 2.72), a data
backup item window will pop up, select the save path, input the name of the file to be saved and the save type, then
click the save button to backup the data.

① Set door lock information : Click the door lock information item in the menu popped up, then a door lock
information properties window pops up (as shown in diagram 2.47) as shown in the diagram, select the corresponding
floor and room, then click the symbol > to add the room, you can also click the symbol >> to add all the rooms, then
click “Next” button to set the information written in the handset (including door lock setting information (as shown in
diagram 2.48), work time section (as shown in diagram 2.49), and blacklist (as shown in diagram 2.50)); after the

The emergency card has the following optional functions: 1. whether to open double-lock; 2. whether to open the door
in passage mode

Scan the emergency card, it peeps once (short), the green lamp glows for several seconds (the default value is 3
seconds), the lock is closed automatically after the lamp goes out. If this card is set to passage unlocking mode or the
lock is set to passage unlocking mode, operation will stop after the lamp goes out, it is necessary to scan the card again,
the red lamp glows, it beeps twice and closes the lock.

4 Set door lock No.

Scan the lock No. card, the green lamp glows, it peeps once “-” (short), the lock No. is set successfully.

5. Set door lock time

6. Unlocking using guest cards

Guest card unlocking conditions: 1. The lock No. should be identical with that of the door lock; 2. The access time

7. Guest check-out (two methods)

2. Use the management software to check out the guest and then issue a new guest card, when the clock is open by the

8. Reset the guest information in the door lock

Scan the reset card, the green lamp glows, it peeps once “-” (short), the guest information in the lock is cleared

to their factory set values.

9. Authorizing staff cards

Scan the authorizing card, the green lamp glows, wait for several seconds (the default value is 2 seconds), it peeps once
“-” (short), and the staff card is authorized successfully.

10. Unlocking using staff cards

Staff cards have the following optional functions: 1. whether to update the card No. or not; 2. whether to use passage

11. Enable a temporary card using a staff card

Scan the staff card with enabling function, it beeps once “-” (short), the green lamp glows, scan the staff card again
while the green lamp is glowing, it beeps once “--” (long), and the yellow lamp glows, it enters enabling mode, scan the
temporary card to be enabled before the lamp goes out, if beeps once and the green lamp flashes at the same time, the
card is enabled to open the door lock. If you scan the enabled the temporary card, it beeps and the red lamp flashes, the
card is disabled and its unlocking right is canceled, Besides, you can scan the staff card again during enabling, it beeps
“--” (long) to end the process.

Note: A temporary card would be disabled whenever the operation duration exceeds the effective time.

12. Unlocking by temporary cards

Temporary cards have the following options: 1. whether to update the card No.; 2. whether to use passage unlocking; 3.
whether open double-lock; 4. whether to open the common door.

Temporary card unlocking conditions: 1. The card has been enabled to open the door lock; 2. The access time should be
within the effective period of the card; 3. The access time should be within the work time section.

13. Enable and sizable a locking card

Scan the locking card, it beeps once, the room is locked, at this time, if you scan an unlocking card (except emergency
card), it “beeps” twice and the yellow lamp glows at the same time, the lock will not open; if you scan a locking card
again, it “beeps” twice and the red lamp flashes at the same time, locking mode is cancelled.

14. Unlocking card loss report

Scan the lost card, the green lamp glows, it peeps once “-” (short), loss report is completed. If you scan the loss-
reported card at this time, it beeps thrice and the yellow lamp flashes at the same time, the lock does not open.

15. Summarize the door lock information using a summary card

There three summary cards, i.e., class A summary card, class B summary card and class C summary card. Scan them
one by one, the green lamp glows, wait for several seconds (the default value is 5 seconds) until it peeps once,
summary is completed. After all the three summary cards are summarized, all lock information is summarized.

16. Under-voltage alarm

When the lock is under-voltage during unlocking, it peeps 8 times to alarm after unlocking.

17. Open the door with a mechanical key

If it is under-voltage, it beeps 8 times to indicate the under-voltage status when the lock is opened.

18. Lock failure alarm

If the tilted dead bolt fails to reach the correct position within 3 seconds, the lock would beep thrice and the red lamp
would flash at the same time until the tilted dead bolt reach the correct position, you can operate the lock during alarm.

19. Double-lock indications:

When the lock is under double-lock mode, the red lamp flashes every two seconds, at this time, if you scan the guest,
emergency card, staff card, temporary card without selecting the double-lock opening function, the yellow lamp glows
for 1 second to indicate that hey cannot open the lock..

20. Self-check of electrification

Press the initializing switch for electrification, it beeps once long, the green lamp glows, it beeps once short, the red
lamp glows, it beeps once short, the yellow lamp glows, it beeps once short, the motor rotates clockwise for 500 MS,
and then rotates counterclockwise for 500 MS.

3. Inspection and handover

3.1 Mechanical part

The lock body surface should be free from scratches, discolor, fade etc, the mechanical key can normally open the lock
and double-lock the card key can normally open the door lock.

3.1.1 Double-lock

The door can be opened smoothly under close status, enter double-lock mode, use a staff card or guest card without
double lock opening function to open the lock, the staff card or guest card cannot open the lock if the double lock is
opened, and can open the lock if the double lock is closed.

3.1.2 Inclined dead bolt alarm
