EFL learners’ grammar performance and also to study the appropriateness of CR for young
learners
5. Thekind of data collected from the object of research is quantitative
6. A researcher-made grammar test as a pretest was administered at the beginning of study. This test
consisted of 60 multiple-choice grammar items which covered all the grammar points included in the
material and were supposed to be taught in the treatment phase of the study, i.e., consciousness-
raising and traditional approaches. The test aimed at measuring the learners’ grammar performance
before teaching grammar points. The content validity of the test was examined by two EFL experts
and the weak items and alternatives were modified. The statistical analysis showed that the scores
obtained from the administration of the test enjoyed the acceptable index of reliability and normal
distribution.
7. Quantitative research
8. The participant Sixty Iranian young male and female pre-intermediate learners at an English language
institute in Tehran, Iran, took part in this study. Their age range was from 11 to 16.
9. According to the obtained results of the study, it can be claimed that learning grammar through
consciousness-raising is more effective and beneficial than traditional approaches; however, the effect
of traditional approaches will not be ignored. this study concluded that grammar consciousness-raising
activities have direct positive effect on the learners’ application of English language grammar.
Grammar consciousness-raising is fruitful for the teachers. By applying consciousness-raising
technique, the teacher is not the source of knowledge anymore. He is just the summarizer and
confirmer so that he does not need to spend much time on grammar explanations. The results of the
study open a new perspective to the English language teachers in the way to take the opportunity of
experiencing a different approach in teaching grammar and become familiar with the concept and the
usage of GCR activities in order to follow a more successful and profitable process of teaching
grammar. They will be able to deal with grammar difficulty for young learners especially for those who
have a weak perception of grammar points or have no interest in this language component. This study
succeeded to show the appropriateness of CR for young learners

were collected. And Section B was designed to explore information about teacher’s
perspective on FB as an ELT tool with a construct.
7. This is a mixed method action research
8. This study is carried out in ten leading Govt. institutions for higher secondary
education in Bangladesh. Both the teacher and students of the institutions are in better
position in terms of using technology in education purpose. 100 teachers of the ten
institutions are taken as participants and their views on FB as online English teaching
tool and inclusion of FB as English teaching pedagogy would focus on the basic
points that are related to higher secondary students’ benefit in using FB as English
learning approach.
9. Previously it was thought that students would use FB only to make communication
with friends through chat or sharing information and photos. Whereas Researchers
have found the students being quite interested in discussing their assignments and
preparing themselves for further studies in FB too. Seeing the emerging demand and
use of digital technology in education arena, researchers assume that technology in
ELT might bring positive changes in English teaching-learning in Bangladesh.
Researchers have taken an initiative to know teachers’ view on using FB in ELT in
Bangladesh as I believe that teachers are the main agent to bring any change in
present situation. From the survey researchers came to know that contemporary
English teachers in Bangladesh are also thinking bringing additional support in ELT
and they have shown their opinion for using FB in ELT. Teachers believe that FB can
be used as an additional space for practising English. In addition to that, Literature
shows that FB has shown its best in ELT in similar context like Bangladeshi higher
secondary level.

4. The main aim of the study was to examine how to what extent using songs in the
English language teaching classroom can create an impact and initiate on better
vocabulary memorization . The author also wanted to know the musical preference of
the students to gain better idea on student’s musical taste and to apply this to class
room teaching ; and finally to have an insight about their perception on song oriented
Language class .
5. Data were collected through class observation, test, questionnaires and interview.
6. To conduct the study, the researcher formed two groups namely Music and Non Music
group. Three kinds of data tools were used during the experiment .A preliminary
questionnaire and an evaluation interview after the lesson. The students were given a
pre test and a post test . Finally, teacher’s observation was added too.
7. Quantitative
8. Subjects participating in the study were 50 students from a private university located
in the capital city of Dhaka . The study was carried out among two groups , each
consisting of 25 students aged from 17-18.
9. This study is an effort in small scale to examine the effectiveness of using songs in
ESL classroom applying experimental approach. ESL teachers all over the world
endorse the use of songsin language classroom but few empirical studies are found on
the effectiveness of the use ofsongs in ESL classroom. The result shows that learners
in Music group performed better than Non music group . After taking their interview ,
the researcher came to know that they felt relaxed while they had lesson with songs .
The researcher also figured out that the learners had more positive attitude while
doing the vocabulary lesson with songs which brought confidence in them . Thus
based on this study it can be said that an ESL classroom which is intensively based on
activities with songs are proved to be highly effective both in terms of achievement
and attitude than the regular one without songs .If used in ESL class properly and
carefully , songs can emancipate mental and affective power in language acquisition
and at the same time promote language awareness. Listening to music can drive the
learners psychological barriers and anxiety away and initiate self confidence and
motivation to grasp the target language .
