Ethics are moral principles that govern a person’s behavior or the conducting of an
activity. Ethics are used in your everyday life whether you know it or not. Decision making
happens every day, from choosing what to eat for breakfast or choosing what homework
assignment to do first, you choose on which you feel will benefit you or others most of the time.
decision making based on how it will benefit the majority of others but a small portion focuses
on the Virtue Framework, which is decision making based on how it will benefit you and how it
First, I will begin with rules one, three, four, six, and ten. I feel that these rules are
important because they are based on the Consequentialist framework which often encourages
you to use your natural duties or obligations of solidarity. For example, rule one is “do no harm”.
When thinking about this rule, I think of the different ways in which people can harm others
whether it's physical, mental, or emotional. I feel that it is a natural duty for us not to do harm
because it goes along with the rule of “treat others how you would want to be treated” or my rule
number four which is “respect all things and people”. It goes along with these rules because if
you just treat people with respect and spread positivity, there will be no harm done which is very
important in this kind of society. This natural duty also pairs up with rules number six, and ten
which are, “Help out when you see others struggling” and “Care for the feelings of others”. You
never know one's situation so one act of kindness can make their day or even prevent them
from causing harm to themselves which will cause your action to be encouraged elsewhere for
Adding on, I will now talk about rules two, five, seven, eight, and nine. These rules are
important when it comes to being a good person because, in order for you to help others, you
would need to help yourself first. These 5 rules mainly focus on the Virtue Framework which
means that you are making decisions based on how it will benefit you or make you look like a
person. For example, rule number two states “live in the now, stop worrying about the future”.
This pertains to the virtue framework because when you’re living in the moment, it is a moment
of self-care because when you focus too much on the past, it becomes stressful depending on if
it was a bad experience or not. This rule also relates to rule numbers five, seven, eight, and nine
which are “do not compare yourself to others”, “be open to new things and ideas”, “avoid
drama”, and “stay humble”. These rules all relate to each other because they focus on what will
benefit you and help you to maintain or gain happiness that you haven't met yet.
