Text 1: Durian

This story is about a little girl kid, Ah Kum who had a very interest in durian.
One day, Ah Kum accidently ate the durians at the kitchen the permission from her
uncle. As the consequences, her uncle was very mad after he found this and merely
slapped Ah Kum just because she ate the durians. Other than that, her Aunt and her
cousin, Chuan Chuan did not Like Ah Kum so much because one the next day they
forced her to eat a pile of six durians. Ah Kum did not manage to finished the durian
and her Aunt and Chuan Chuan were very mad until they push Ah Kum’s face down
to the durian. Their heartless action stopped when Aunt Siew Thong came.

In my opinion, I do disagree with the punishment given to Ah Kum from her

uncle. It is because I see it rather as a child abuse than a normal punishment. For
example, slapping a little child face just because she does not ask permission, it
seems like a heartless action. Furthermore, in this modern age, we can see he rising
cases of child abuse in our own society. We can relate this situation to the parents or
guardians that cannot control their temper in punishing their kids.

In contrast, I also do not support the action when Ah Kum ate the durian
without her uncle permission. It shows that she does not have respect for his uncle.
In this matter, we actually need to teach the children about respect starting from
they were little. For example, we can see that the teenagers today do not respect
their parents by doing all the things that their parents do not allowed. This problem
occurs because of their parents spoil them too much when they were little.

In conclusion, I would suggest that the government has to take aggressive

actions towards people who did child abusing. It is because we need to make sure
that our society is safe for kids to grow up. Second, I would recommend the parents
to be stricter to their children especially when they are teenagers. It refers that
teenagers should have more respect to their parents and do not act by their own
decisions.
Text 2: Article

This article reviews about the effects of technology in our society especially to
the students. For example, it shows how technology affects the behaviour and
personality of the students. It also states that technology had created a global world
and everyone has access on it. It may be beneficial especially for the youngsters but
it also can harm them. As example, many research had been done to understand the
effects of technology on the students.

From my opinion, I do agree that social networks provide them the freedom
to do whatever they want. It is because social networks had numerous apps for the
students to socialize themselves. It also helps them to post photos or videos in case
they want to share something with their friends. For example, the apps such as
Instagram and Facebook act as medium for the students to share their memorable
moments. Within that, they can reduce their stress level by communicate with their
friends.

Second, I also agree that students can create other online identities that the
real world do not allow through the social networks. But, this also can mislead to
situation where the students may do something they should not do in social media.
For instance, they maybe can pretend being someone else and start to attack or
condemn anyone on the social media. Within that, it will show the immaturity side of
the students because they only type whatever they think they are true without
realise the consequences of it.

In contrast, I do not agree with statement many students are worried about
their looks and always try to upload nicer pictures than their friends. For me,
students just uploading the pictures to the social media just to show to their friends
what they are doing. They actually do not care much about the quality of the
pictures as long as it looks nice and not too bad. There are even students who share
their ugly pictures as a joke with their friends. For example, we can see some
students send their ugly faces to their friends but, they must make sure that the
photos do not misused by their friends. It is because if that happen, it can humiliate
the students enormously.
In conclusion, I would recommend to the students to avoid themselves being
too much exposure to the social networks. This because if the students are totally
addicted to the social networks, it can affect their body especially their health and
their mental. Lastly, students should know how to manage themselves wisely. They
must know how to divide their times socializing in social networks and doing other
vital things such as home works and house chores.
