By the end of the lesson, students are able to, I will be successful if I can:
i) Activate background knowledge on family  List down at least three name of family members

Duration Lesson Outline


STARTER
1. Teacher shares Learning Objectives and Success Criteria with the students.
2. Students are shown pictures of family on the slide, one at a time.
3. Students are given 1 minute to write down as much information as they can about each
picture.
15 mins 4. Teacher asks the students to use Stand and Share, students share their responses. Each student
who contributes must give something new.
5. Teacher collate all responses on the board for the class to see how they already know.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Activity 1 (Give one, Take one)

1. Students are given thinking time to complete the table on their own with family ties.
2. Give one, take one:
i) Teacher plays music and get students to mix around.
ii) Teacher pause the music and instruct the students to High Five and pair up with the
person nearest to them.
iii) Pairs share using the structure “Give One, Take One”:
25 mins - Partner A shares one festival, food and activity
- Partner B writes down what is shared.
- Partner A & B switch roles.
- Teacher repeats this for 3 times.

Activity 3 (Gallery Walk 2 Stay, 2 Stray) :

1. Students display their group’s Graphic Organiser around the room.


2. Each group selects two representatives to stay at their group’s Graphic Organiser to the visitors
(strays) from other groups.
3. The other members will visit the other groups and listen to their presentation.
4. Teacher emind the visitors to give feedback (suggestions & questions) on Post it notes and place
the notes on the groups’ graphic organisers.
3. After the given time is up,teacher call the students to return to their table group.
25 mins 6. Teacher ask the visitors to share findings from other groups’ Graphic Organiser.
7. Teacher instruct the groups to read the feedback and improve on their Graphic Organiser.
PLENARY
5 mins 1.Students write the following on their exit slips:
-2 things that they have learnt
1. Students pass the Exit Slips to the Teacher.
