OBJECTIVES
1. To understand and analyze the projectile motion in term of Projection range, Projection
height and Effect of initial velocity and projectile angle to the motion.

Introduction
Consider the kinematics diagram illustrated in Figure 1. The Projectile is launched at point
(Xo,Yo). The pasth is defined in the x-y plane such that initial velocity is Vo, having
components (Vo)x and (Vo)y. When air resistance is neglected, the only force acting on the
projectile approximately ac=g=9.81m/s². The basics concepts of projectile motion are:
dynamics, kinematics, horizontol motion, vertical motion, position, magnitude, direction,
acceleration. It obeys the principles that the horizontol component of velocity always
remains constant during the motion. If the positive y axis directed upward, then the certical
component of acceleration is opposite to the gravitational acceleration.

EQUIPMENT
1. Ballistic pendulum
2. Recording paper
3. Steel ball
4. Two layers platform support
5. Meter scale
6. Barrel base
7. Timer
8. Speed measuring attachment
9. Connecting cords
PROCEDURE
1. The 3 platform support has been arrange to determine the range.
2. The 1st platform have been set to the closest projectile unit.
3. The platform level at 0° adjust at the same level to projectile barrel.
4. Make sure the recording strip is on the platform.
5. Set the angle of the barrel by releasing the ut at the angle disc
6. Set the speed of the barrel by pull the handle
7. Place the steel ball to the barrel
8. Switch on the speed measuring unit and push reset button
9. Launch the steel ball by releasing the speed handle
10. Record the data.
