Adding Foundation

• Wall Foundation
• Isolated Foundation
• Slab (Raft) Foundation
Wall Foundation
Creating Wall Foundation :-

Wall foundation for Bearing and Retaining are place under


walls in Revit structure wall foundation is hosted by wall , we
can change size of foundation.

Retaining
can be place in
3D,Section and
Elevation views.
Place a Bearing / Retaining Wall Footing
For this Command wall must be in place.

Open a foundation Plan and set it up so that


the walls are displayed and we can select it.

In Structure Tab> Foundation Panel > Click on


wall foundation

In the type selector, Select a type


Place a Bearing / Retaining Wall Footing
Select a wall, the footing is placed beneath the wall
Note: To select multiple walls, move cursor over to existing wall s, do not
select them, once all the walls are highlighted press tab key.

To define Bearing / Retaining


Go to type selector > click on edit type > duplicate > write name
Set structural usage as Bearing / Retaining
Type dimension
Bearing Wall Footing

It will ask you for Width & Foundation Thickness


Retaining Wall Footing
It will ask you for
• Toe Length
• Heel length &
• Foundation Thickness
Isolated Footing

Open a plan view at level where we like to place


footing e.g. :- Ground Level

In Structural Tab> Foundation Panel > click on


Isolated

In the type selector > select footing type >


duplicate > Assign Name > Assign Dimensions as
required

In the drawing place footing by clicking


Add more than one Footing at a time
Take Isolated Footing command, you will see
Modify / Place Isolated Footing Tab > Multiple Panel
Select at grid / at column & select Grid / Column

Click on finish to
complete the command
Select Grid / Column with crossing window
Add more than one Footing at a time
An isolated footing attach itself to the bottom of the component.

Instead of adding extra levels for foundation, you can place footing at the
lowest level And then change the base offset parameter for the column or
wall.

The footing will move with column /wall.


SLAB (Raft / Mat) Foundation
In Structure Tab > Foundation Panel
click on Slab Foundation

In type Selector > Select the type of slab needed or create new slab

In modify /create slab boundary tab > draw panel


use line / pick line

Create shape of slab (create close loop)

Click on finish tab to complete the command


SLAB (Raft / Mat) Foundation

If there are any walls, below the slab an alert box will open up
Click yes to constrain the wall with slab, so that the height of
wall will change.

If the slab overlap with wall, you can use join slab to wall using
join geometry.
